We have an interesting little case study today. A couple bought their own mahogany door to install in their home, but unfortunately, it became waterlogged before it could be stained and put into place. The resulting phenomenon is standing water inside their door glass, which you will see circled in blue. They called Cumberland Glass to see if we could help.
We immediately removed the affected glass units which revealed the little wire capillaries pictured below. These are useful when transporting insulated glass between different geographical regions because they help relieve pressure that builds up between the glass during transit. However, they should be permanently sealed once they arrive at their destination because otherwise, they can act as a straw, pulling in moisture from the outside and encapsulating it between the panes.
Fortunately for our customer, Cumberland Glass knew exactly what to do! We were able to salvage the original glass and put it back into place like new. For 40 years and counting, Cumberland Glass has had your back. We love being able to provide great solutions for affordable prices. When you need a glass expert, we'll be here waiting for your call πͺπͺπͺ 423-587-2285
