Interested in learning the basics of wheel throwing and glazing?

In this 6-week beginner’s series led by Anah Witt, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of wheel throwing including:

- The mechanics of the wheel

- Centering, throwing, and trimming clay

- Handle making and surface treatments

- Glazing bisque-fired clay

All materials are included along with firing and glazing costs.

We’re bringing back our community art auction for Vermont Creative Works’ First Anniversary Celebration + Open Studio Weekend on October 3!

This year’s theme is:
🌿 ROOTS & WINGS 🪽
Where you’re planted inspires where you’ll fly.

Artists are invited to create an original work inspired by the theme—however you choose to interpret it. Think home and adventure, belonging and growth, ancestry and possibility, what grounds us and what sets us free.

How it works:
1.) Pick up a 12" wooden circle from Vermont Creative Works by September 1
2.) Spend September transforming it into your own original artwork
3.) Return your finished piece by September 30
4.) Artwork will be displayed together in our hallway exhibit for our First Anniversary Celebration + Open Studio Weekend on Saturday, October 3
5.) Pieces will be included in our silent auction, both online and in person, with 50% proceeds supporting the artists, and 50% supporting Vermont Creative Works

All styles, mediums, and interpretations are welcome. Paint it. Draw it. Collage it. Wood-burn it. Sculpt onto it. Surprise us.

Last year, seeing all of those individual circles come together as one community exhibit (shown in photo!) was one of the most exciting parts of opening VCW. It feels especially fitting to bring the project back one year later—this time celebrating both where we’ve put down roots and where we’re going next.
