Heather Abigail from Comeback Coolers came to Moss Point...this is what she had to say and these are the pictures of the Moss Point TORNADO THE NEWS Hasn't shown you
I went to Moss Point Saturday with Comeback Coolers. I’ve been to roughly 30 storm areas - the damage in Moss Point is severe; unfortunately, I don’t think we are hearing a lot about it.
I do not believe it has been declared a disaster area yet which means there’s no federal help there. People are definitely working to help themselves and their families and neighbors as best they can. But, they need more help.
I didn’t see any large organizations and I only saw a small handful of local groups. It is the least amount of help I’ve seen in ANY area after a tornado. The damage is terrible but the lack of help is heartbreaking.
A lot of the historical area was destroyed. Many badly damaged homes are occupied by older senior citizens who don’t have the physical capacity to do necessary work. In addition, the rain on Thursday was a second blow - especially to homes which hadn’t been tarped.
I’m reaching out in hopes that some of you on here have access to volunteer groups, churches, or other organizations. Or, maybe you have access to leadership at high levels and can encourage MEMA to work faster. I’m hoping you can help in some way by letting people know that this tornado was more damaging than what most of us were aware. If you know of some way to help our neighbors, please help get the ball rolling.
