WHAT IF?? A mandate is being passed down from the state legislature that this holiday season you can ONLY shop and purchase your holiday gifts, decor, food and entertainment from LOCAL (ie a 10 mile radius of your home) small owner-operated businesses!
Question: When presented with their gift, invited over for holiday meal, viewing your home all decked out and decorated, or asked to join you for a holiday night-out, would your friends and family....(answer in comments please!)...
A) ...throw a toddler style temper tantrum in the middle of the floor?
B) ....smile that little smurky smile that is secretly saying, "WTH??" ?
C) .....shrug their shoulders and say "Well, alright, I guess.... it'll have to do." .....
D) .....smile warmly and sincerely while thanking you but secretly wondering if you have lost your job and now expect them to be the "big spender" this season.....
OR.... MY PERSONAL FAVORITE....(note my effort to sway your vote...)...
E) ... be soooo astonished and amazed when you tell them how you followed the mandate this holiday season resulting in finding incredible, one-of-a-kind gifts, food & fun, supported your own community and neighbors, spent less time in the car driving mega mall to mega mall thereby actually SAVING MONEY in the long run AND freeing up SO MUCH TIME this holiday season to actually relax, have much more quality time with family and friends to reflect on the true meaning of the season, that they tell you "This is the best gift, dinner, or time I have ever received, eaten or spent!! I had no idea all this could be found at shops right here in my community!! So I am going to change my ways as well and SUPPORT ONLY MY COMMUNITY SMALL, OWNER OPERATED BUSINESSES this holiday season AND all the weeks between holiday seasons from now on!!"

So Come On Mt Airy and every community-- let's pledge to reclaim and strengthen OUR OWN COMMUNITIES by supporting the businesses that ARE the actual backbone of our towns and say "No More" to the mega retail chains owned by Lord knows who and certainly not spending their profits to benefit YOUR communities THIS Holiday season and every day between the seasons!!

So I guess you can tell by now that my answer to today's WHAT IF? scenario is ......... E!! WHATS YOURS??
