“Baptism at Big Creek, near Mt. Judea and Vendor, circa 1920’s”
This classic photo and frame are on loan from and on display at the Mt. Judea Mercantile. If your family is from the area, then your kinfolk are likely in this photo! My great grandpa, Cleve Smith, is right in the middle. I love the old cars parked back in the trees too.
Stop by and do some shopping, and take a look at it!

We’re home this weekend at the Mt. Judea Mercantile, serving up some ice cream, dessert fried pies, funnel cake sticks, and we’ll even have packs of our frozen pies (apple, apricot, blackberry, chocolate, coconut, pecan, peach, or raisin)!
Open Saturday (Sept 5th) 10:00-4:00, Sunday (Sept 6th) 12:00-4:00.
It’s opening weekend, so come see us and do a little shopping!

We like for the Mercantile to take you back to a time gone by….like before a/c units.
The Mercantile retains the old method of air conditioning… which means it’s nonexistent.
Thanks to the tall ceilings, it stays fairly comfortable in there until late morning/early afternoon. We’ll also have fans going and ice cream for sale at the concession trailer this weekend, so that helps a bit.
Ultimately, it’s just gonna be a hot weekend though. We’ll make the best of it, but just wanted to let you know so that you can come prepared.
We’ll be open 10-4 Saturday and noon-4 on Sunday!

Built around 1920, she was a beauty in her prime. She offered everything locals needed, and soda for a dime.
She’s seen her share of changes and sold so many things- stamps, wagons, flowers, and now local offerings.
Time took its toll upon her, but we try to capture her past glory- hardwood floor, big screen door…they all tell such a story.
Make plans to come and see her and shop our local wares. Like generations before us, we’d love to see you there!

The Mt. Judea Mercantile opens on Sept 5th for the 2026 fall season. It's certainly worth a drive to visit the historic building and shop the locally-made and unique items available there. There's a whole lot of history and talent in these hills!
We are open Saturdays 10:00-4:00 and Sundays 12:00-4:00 through Christmas.

Mt. Judea’s Little Free Library is housed in the old post office, just across from the Mt. Judea Mercantile.
We strongly suggest you walk across the street to see this not-so-little library when you come visit the Mercantile! Some of the locals keep it so cute, and the books are free for the borrowing!
