Happy Holidays from Plum Panda Design Studio!

I love when people go all out with their Christmas decorating (IF it brings them joy). But I personally prefer a very scaled back version, with a pop up tinsel tree, a few gnomes, some cone trees, and of course, a Santa hat on Wayne the buffalo. I used to be a stressed out monster at this time of year until I realized I didn't have to give in to the pressure of a "perfect" holiday. I pared down decorations and stopped exchanging gifts.

However you celebrate the holidays, do it in a way that brings you peace and joy, which is what this season is supposed to be about. 🎅🏻🎄🎁🕎🕯🕊💕

I'm always in awe of just how much "stuff" I used to own when old FB memories pop up. The first photo is a before/after of my desk in 2013. The second is a before/after from today. That is the messiest my desk gets now. I was able to not only tidy it up, but dust and vacuum as well in just 15 minutes.

I would bet that most of the stuff in the old photo was dumped into a plastic bin and hauled into the basement. That's what I did to make the house "company ready," or when I just got sick of looking at the clutter. I will put a link in the comments to something I read that gave me my first "AHA moment" during my journey to a tidier home.

When you can't seem to find the perfect table, you MAKE one. Solid butcher block shelf/table top from Home Depot. Table legs from Wayfair. It's exactly what I wanted.

I decided to "lean into green" with our new bedroom rug. I replaced a navy s**g 8x10 with this 6x9 beauty, opting to reduce the size to better accommodate the floor register. Both of my bedding sets work with the green, and I can't wait for cooler temperatures so I can break out the mid-mod comforter to see how it looks.

Sometimes you just feel like making your thermostat look nicer. 🤣 Also, check out the Victorian style frame on a piece of modern graphic art. Mixing styles is a fun way to create interest.

Sometimes, it's the little things that make you smile. Like the first decorative accessory I purchased myself post-divorce, during a work trip to Seattle. It's beautiful and meaningful to me.

Minimalism doesn't have to mean bare walls. Joshua Becker, founder of Becoming Minimalist, defines minimalism as the intentional promotion of things we value most and the removal of anything that distracts us from them. It's about creating space for what truly matters by intentionally owning less and removing clutter and distractions. This allows individuals to focus on their priorities, pursue their passions, and live more intentionally.

Art is what matters to me. We added a few prints from to our collection after seeing his work at the Des Moines Art Festival. I later learned he has a gallery right here in Nashville!
