January 2026 I camped out at Uptown Coffee Company and made myself a list of all the things I wanted to find throughout the year. A vision for my winter 2026 collection.
I looked through every Jan Brett at from local library.
I wrote.
I drew.
Then I hunted.

Last fall I was obsessed with the goldenrod lining the highway. To the point where I started keeping a shovel in the truck. But before I turned to theft I found a kind soul on fbmp who let me dig some of hers! After months of watching it grow, I finally got to bring some inside.

And it was worth everything.

Is this why men who hunt like taxidermy? A visual representation of success, the sweet payoff of hard work and skill?

“What’s going on with silver?? Is brass still cool??”
I’ve been getting asked this more and more! My answer:
⬆️ Silver
⬇️ Mediocre brass (yeah, I said it, some brass is mid!)
✅ Good pieces will always be good!
Are more people learning to love silver? Yes. But was quality silver “out”? I don’t think so! And while brass for brass’ sake is declining, the good ones are here to stay. At the end of the day, buy what you love! But also don’t be afraid to mix your metals! A little more balance and contrast helps everything shine.
Here’s how I’ve been incorporating silver in my home this summer:
1. Revere bowl with hydrangeas on a small silver plate (I’ve used it as a large coaster under a few vases!)
2. Pedestal dish to contain my watches and necklaces
3. Pitcher full of big blooms
4. Julep cup to display my mother-of-pearl collection

How’s your collection looking? Team silver? Team brass? Best of both worlds?

“Some people exercise or read or travel, but “house” is also a hobby— and it’s never done. No one ever says, OK, I’m done reading. If it’s a passion, you’re constantly doing it; there’s no destination, no end goal.”
- Liz MacPhail
