🐾 KITTEN STORY - PART 4 🐾
Last Sunday morning Shane and I headed to Kenton to pick up the kitten condo.
And finally, after several days of emails, phone calls, spreadsheets, vet quotes, frustration, and more than a few tears... I met Shannon.
The funny thing is, I was driving to Kenton thinking I was picking up a cage. What I was actually picking up was HOPE.
The kitten condo was exactly what I had been looking for. A safe place where the kittens could spend time at Old Tin Cup, meet people, be socialized, and maybe someday decide retail is their true calling. 😹
But the bigger gift wasn't the cage. It was being reminded that there are still people out there who lead with kindness. People who hear a problem and immediately start thinking about solutions. People who simply ask, "How can I help?"
The kittens are now scheduled for their speuters through the Hardin County Humane Society program, and their first vet visit is next Wednesday at TAHO. They will be about 8 weeks old. We have a LONG relationship with TAHO, they were the most affordable option we found, and I have a deep respect for their mission.
By Thursday, the kittens were settled into their new condo at the shop, greeting people and being utterly adorable.
And then something else wonderful happened. Customers started hearing the story. People started asking questions. People started wanting to help.
As of today, these three little freeloaders have already raised $121 for the Hardin County Humane Society. That's enough to cover FOUR spay/neuter surgeries. Four. In three days.
A week ago they were sitting in a box at the Mt. Victory drive-thru. Today they're helping other animals. So we're going to keep going.
Old Tin Cup is now accepting donations for the Hardin County Humane Society Pet Pantry and their low cost spay/neuter efforts.
Food, litter, supplies, monetary donations... every little bit helps.
The kittens will be at the shop meeting customers, causing chaos, and apparently fundraising. 😹
And Shannon... thank you. You thought you were loaning me a cage. What you really did was remind me why people help animals in the first place. And now, because you helped, we're going to help others. ❤️🐾
