We had some good helpers today processing birds! The weights range anywhere from 4.3 lbs to 6.5 lbs. we are selling 10 birds for $150 or $4 a lb. Message us before they are gone!

IF someone was to ask me for an honest opinion on which tractor to go with 1. Salatin or 2. Suscovich.. I would point them in the direction of the Suscovich style tractor. I love to interact with my birds and the Suscovich allows me to walk in the tractor. Also when my waterers are giving me fits I’m not crawling in the tractor. I built my Suscovich tractor to fit my height. It did take longer to build AND I need to figure out cover other than a tarp. BUT it’s a no brainer for me! Also I’d say build them as light as possible! One tractor (Salitin style) was built with 2x4’s and sheet metal the other (Suscovich style) I split all my 2x4’s and used conduit as the top frame. The Suscovich is so much lighter and easier to move!

These guys are fertilizing the pasture. Something I never knew until I started raising broilers. Chickens LOVE grass. All the insects and grass these guys are digesting makes for #1 happy birds #2 natural healthy birds and #3 better tasting birds. They’ve never been given any antibiotics or vaccines and have been fed a NON GMO feed! Looks like I’ll have around 60 birds to sell to the community around Memorial Day. Message me if you’d like on that list

The babies sure are growing, one week old Friday. They are starting to get feathers. As soon as they feather out to the pasture to finish living their lives!

We have our first set of birds in. They arrived on the 22nd. Right now we have 95 birds, once they get their feathers they’ll go straight to the pasture and once we get them on the pasture we’ll start writing down orders!

It’s getting close to raising birds, we are looking to have our first flock arrive around March 22nd. I thought about making a few videos just show you what we do with our whole birds! I feel like people get over whelmed when they think “what am I going to do with a whole bird”. But there are a ton of possibilities and having that chicken already in your fridge waiting on the next meal is so beneficial to that busy family. A chicken is usually 3 meals for us. And not only are these chickens BIG but they are NON GMO pasture raised birds W/O any medications or vaccines!
