A lot of years, a lot of windows, a lot of miles… and still doing this thing together. 💙

Matt and I are in San Antonio this week for the Window Film Conference and Tint-Off, catching up with old friends, meeting some new ones, learning a few things, and probably talking about window film way more than normal people ever should. 😂

This industry has been a huge part of our lives for a very long time. It’s challenged us, taught us, given us some pretty incredible friendships, and helped us build a family business we’re incredibly proud of.

And of course, we had to grab a picture at the Madico booth. 💙 We’ve worked with Madico products for years, and relationships like these are one of the things we appreciate most about being part of this industry. Behind the rolls of film, specs and installations are real people - and getting to spend time with those people is one of the best parts of weeks like this.

Through all the changes — including some pretty big ones for us this year — one thing hasn’t changed:

It’s still Matt & Kristy behind Palmetto Protection Films. 💙

🍎 What does window film have to do with going back to school? More than you might think!

While students were enjoying summer break, we were busy helping this school prepare for another year.

This project had quite a few goals: reducing solar heat and glare, helping lessen the strain on the HVAC system, increasing daytime privacy, improving safety and security, AND creating a cohesive appearance across the building.

That meant one film wasn't necessarily the answer.

Some areas already had clear 8-mil safety and security film, so we added reflective solar control film over the existing protection. Other areas received 8-mil reflective solar safety and security film, allowing us to address both solar performance and glass protection.

The result? A customized solution designed around the needs of the building—and a clean, consistent appearance from the outside.

Take a look behind the scenes! 👀

And to all of the students, teachers, faculty and staff heading back to school...

Have a wonderful—and hopefully a little cooler—school year! 🍎📚

☕ A day late, but still worth the watch!

Yesterday's Coffee & Tint Talks had a little posting hiccup, but I still wanted to share it because this is one of the topics homeowners ask about most.

If you've ever looked at a window film brochure and wondered what terms like VLT, TSER, or UV protection actually mean, this episode is for you.

My goal is to make window film easier to understand so you can make an informed decision—not feel overwhelmed by technical specifications.

I'd love to hear what other window film questions you'd like me to cover in a future Coffee & Tint Talks!

Most window film is installed on the inside of the glass - but not always.

In this home, the homeowners loved the natural light from their skylights but wanted to make the space more comfortable by reducing heat.

After evaluating the project, an exterior installation proved to be the best solution.

🎥 Watch this week's Project Spotlight to see the installation and hear why we made that recommendation.

If you'd like to dive deeper, we've also published the full Project Spotlight on our website, where we explain the decision-making process and what homeowners should know before choosing skylight window film.

☀️ Too much heat

😎 Glare on your TV or devices

🏡 More daytime privacy

🛋 Protect furniture from fading

🔒 Better security

Or is it something else?

👇 Tell us in the comments! We love hearing what's most important to homeowners.

How do we choose the right window film?

It's not by walking in and telling you which one to buy.

Every consultation starts with understanding your goals. Are you trying to reduce heat? Cut glare? Add privacy? Protect your furnishings?

From there, I use tools like a laser thermometer and Glass Check Elite to better understand your windows before recommending a film.

Then comes my favorite part—comparing samples right on your windows so you can choose the option that's right for your home.

Because this is an investment you'll live with every day.

☕ Window Film Wednesday is here!

Can window film reduce heat and glare?

Absolutely—but there's one thing I tell every homeowner:

There's no such thing as a magic window film.

Window film can make a dramatic difference in comfort, but your home's insulation, HVAC system, window placement, and your goals all play a role in the final result.

That's why we spend time understanding your home before recommending a solution.

🎥 Watch this week's Coffee & Tint Talk and let me know what question you'd like me to answer next!

This Summerfield homeowner had enjoyed years of natural shade - until neighboring trees were removed.

Almost overnight, their home was flooded with intense afternoon sun, bringing unwanted heat and glare into the living space.

They wanted to keep the beautiful natural light they loved without feeling like they had to close the blinds every afternoon.

After discussing their goals, we installed Madico, Inc. Purelite 40, helping reduce heat and glare while maintaining a bright, open feel throughout the home.

Every home is different, and the best solution starts with understanding how you use your space - not simply choosing the darkest film available.

☀️ Comfort. Natural light. A view you can still enjoy.

☕ Coffee & Tint Talks with Kristy – Episode 2

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from homeowners is:

"If I install privacy window film, people won't be able to see in at night... right?"

Not exactly.

The truth is, privacy depends on where the light is—and understanding that can save you from choosing the wrong solution for your home.

In today's Coffee & Tint Talk, I'm explaining:

🌞 Why daytime privacy works

🌙 What changes after the sun goes down

🏡 How to choose the right solution based on your privacy goals

My goal is never to sell you something you don't need. I'd much rather help you understand your options so you can make the best decision for your home.

🎥 Watch today's episode and let me know...

Before today, did you think window film provided privacy at night?

Happy Friday from Summerfield, NC! ☀️

Looks like it’s another “Bring Your Wife to Work” day. 😂

While Matt is busy installing window film, I’m handling photos, answering calls and texts, keeping projects on schedule…and, of course, making sure coffee is involved somewhere along the way. ☕📸

Today’s project is a great example of something we hear all the time:

“I want the heat gone…but I don’t want my windows to look dark.”

For this home, we’re installing Madico, Inc. Purelite 40 - a neutral window film that provides excellent heat rejection while allowing plenty of natural light to shine through. The result? A more comfortable home without dramatically changing the appearance of the windows.

It’s one of our favorite options for homeowners who want performance without sacrificing their view.

Now…if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to my very important job of “quality control” while Matt does the real work. 😄
