This wet bar design pairs rift-cut white oak with honed quartzite and a fluted ceramic backsplash for a warm, layered material palette that feels collected.

The wall-mount faucet is the detail worth noting. It frees up counter space around the sink, keeps the stone slab clean and uninterrupted, and makes the whole bar read as custom. It does require rough-in planning with your plumber before tile goes up, so flag it early in your renovation timeline.

Part 2 of our dry bar edit. Never order hardware without seeing the finish in person first. Here is why:

Metal finishes are not standardized: In this case, aged brass from one brand can run yellow, another almost bronze, and photos online will never tell you which one you are getting. So before we committed, we ordered a finish sample from and put it right next to the cabinet finish and the countertop. That is the whole test: the three materials have to work together in real light, in the real space.

Technology should never compete with great design, it should elevate it.

During our visit to the LK & Associates showroom at DCOTA with SOFLA Technologies, we explored how thoughtful integration can enhance the way a home looks, feels, and functions, without taking away from the design.

From invisible speakers concealed within walls and ceilings to architectural lighting that supports wellness and atmosphere, every solution was designed to complement the architecture rather than compete with it.

One of the biggest takeaways: technology should be considered early in the design process. When interior designers, builders, architects, and technology specialists collaborate from the beginning, the result is a home that is not only beautiful, but also seamlessly functional for the homeowner.🤩

Warmth is not a color. It is a decision you make in the layers.

That was the whole goal here, a primary bath we currently have under construction. We wanted it to feel calm and grounded from the first step in, and getting there came down to how we layered it.

The foundation comes first. Light oak and grasscloth bring in natural texture, and texture is what keeps a neutral room from reading flat or cold.

Then one metal to connect it. Aged brass runs through every fixture, the faucets, pulls, and sconces, so the finishes feel considered rather than matched. Repeating a single metal is what makes a room feel intentional.

And a surface built to last. Calacatta Elysio quartz carries the depth of natural stone while standing up to daily life, so you get the look of natural stone without the upkeep it usually demands.

There’s a phase of every renovation that most homeowners never see. It’s the phase where the design meets the build.

It’s the part between the drawings being finished and the paint going on. Trades are working, walls are going up, tile is being cut. Every day, small decisions get made that either protect the design or drift from it.
