There’s more room for roses in an allotment than you might think.
From creating soft, living boundaries to growing over archways and welcoming pollinators into the garden, there are plenty of ways roses can work alongside the vegetables and fruit you're growing.
In our latest blog, we share some of our favourite ways to introduce roses to these spaces, including varieties that are well suited to allotments and vegetable gardens.

Roses can be the focal point of a planting, but the plants around them have an important part to play.
The right combination can soften the outline of a rose, introduce contrasting textures, create movement and layers within the border.
Think beyond the flowers themselves and consider how different heights, shapes and flowering times can work together to create a planting that feels relaxed, abundant and full of life.
Which companion plants do you love growing alongside your roses?

Roses to Grow with Confidence
When choosing a rose, qualities such as healthy growth, resilience, reliable flowering and versatility can make all the difference. These qualities can help make roses more straightforward to grow and rewarding to enjoy, whether you're adding to an established planting or creating something new.
From compact varieties for smaller spaces to versatile climbers for adding height, there are plenty of roses to explore and find the right fit for your garden.
Mary Delany (Ausorts)
A versatile climber with few thorns, excellent repeat flowering and a light, fresh fragrance.
Dannahue (Ausa6b15)
Compact and shapely, with an upright habit that makes it well suited to containers, borders and shadier spaces.
Elizabeth (Ausmajesty)
Exceptionally healthy and versatile, with reliable flowering and a strong, sweet fragrance.
Lady of Shalott (Ausnyson)
A healthy, repeat flowering shrub with a bushy habit, warm Tea fragrance and beautiful orange blooms.

Emma Bridgewater (Ausb44a16) is a rose with plenty of character, from the way its colour develops to the qualities that make it such a versatile garden rose.
The blooms open in warm coral and pink tones before gradually softening to lilac pink, creating an antique quality that makes the rose particularly distinctive. As the flowers develop, the changing palette means there's always something slightly different to admire.
The colour is wonderfully versatile, too. The pink and lilac tones sit beautifully alongside pinks and purples, while the warmer shades can be paired with soft apricots, pale oranges and deeper burgundies.
Alongside its distinctive colouring, Emma Bridgewater combines healthy growth with a well-balanced habit, a beautiful, fruity Tea fragrance and reliable flowering, making it a valuable addition to a range of garden settings.
What do you love most about Emma Bridgewater?

Apparently my kitchen had a lot of random little things that were just waiting to be upgraded 😂 And now I’m wondering why I didn’t replace them sooner. These are the kitchen finds that look better, work better, and make everyday life just a little easier.
