Pure maple syrup should have one ingredient:
Maple syrup. That’s it and sugar season has begun 🍁!
This past December, while visiting the Small Picture Show I was drawn to this painting of antique maple syrup buckets by , It resonated deeply, partly because I love maple syrup, but more so because I value whole, honest, well-made things.
That’s often how art works. We’re drawn to pieces not just for how they look, but for what they represent in our lives. Whether it’s artwork, food, or the spaces we live in, surrounding yourself with things that feel authentic and nourishing matters.
When choosing maple syrup, read the label. If you see corn syrup, cane sugar, “natural flavors,” caramel color, or preservatives, it isn’t maple syrup. It’s a manufactured imitation, engineered to mimic something real.
A few benefits of true maple syrup 🍯✨
– Naturally contains antioxidants (polyphenols from plants)
– Includes trace minerals like manganese, zinc, and riboflavin (B2)
It’s still a sweetener but it’s less refined and comes with naturally occurring compounds that support the body, rather than work against it.
Designing for wellness, environmentally and personally, often starts with the same principle:
Choose what’s real. Choose what supports you.
