Despite the bout of rainy weather this week, it has been a great May show and we are so grateful to see so many returning customers and friends. It’s been a delightful week seeing so many of you! Thank you so much for supporting our small business.

Just cleaned up this gorgeous 19th century slant top, grain painted desk. I’m fascinated by the practice of painting wood grain, over wood grain. It was really popular between 1790-1880 as a way of making cheaper wood, such as pine, look like more expensive wood like maple or mahogany.

This is the perfect sized piece to put near a front door as a place to drop your keys and mail. Or for the guest room where you want a small but practical, beautiful and interesting piece of furniture.
