I successfully completed my first pit fire in my backyard yesterday. The first cup looks like a forest fire, which is pretty incredible.

We cut down a few trees in our backyard this week, so I decided to do a little test run in our fire pit. Definitely more of these to come.

I had more fun than I’ve had in a long time with this drop. I love hanging wall art and funky designs. Playing with gold details was the icing on the cake.

A little studio scene featuring Red, my new wagon.

I usually keep my garage door open when the weather is nice. Now that is is FRIGID outside I am using it as a spot to track orders and hang sketches.

I just bought some little magnets and got to it.

By far the very best cup I have ever made. Technically and aesthetically.

Swipe to see the process of how I get these crosses to show the natural clay underneath the glaze. All about that blue tape!

Of course, I used Opulence Glaze in “Calico”. I brushed four coats onto this dark clay body.

A pretty little snake cup commission.

This design uses the natural clay body and a clear coat of glaze to bring out this earthy white color. This clay mimics porcelain but is MUCH easier to work with.

That’s a wrap, folks! All of my Christmas commissions and gifts have arrived safely at the kiln for their last round of firing.

This Christmas commission was right up my alley. My client wanted a sunburst effect that felt warm so I put on a little retro color pairing! Right on the line between weird and cool, which fits I guess!
