My Neighbor Hosted A Crazy Party In My Backyard While I Was Away On A Business Trip — Karma Caught Up With Him Before I Even Returned Home

My name is Danielle, and the week prior to my business trip to Denver, my neighbor Curtis knocked on my door and asked if he could use my backyard for a party while I was away. My yard backs up to the lake, his does not, and apparently that made mine the clear choice for whatever he had in mind.

I told him no. Politely, but firmly. I didn’t know his friends, I didn’t want strangers roaming around my property while I was three states away, and I stated as much.

He simply shrugged and said, ""No worries, I get it.""

Three days into my trip, sitting in a hotel lobby answering emails, my phone rang. It was Jason, a guy I know from my gym, someone I hadn’t actually spoken to in months.

""Hey, why didn't you invite me to your party?"" he asked. ""I saw the pictures online.""

""I'm not throwing a party,"" I said, puzzled. ""I'm literally in Colorado right now, for work.""

He got quiet for a moment, then said, ""You might want to see this,"" and texted me a photo.

It was my backyard. Filled with people I’d never seen in my life, a keg perched on my patio table, someone’s cooler dripping onto my deck. Curtis stood right in the center of it, drink in hand, grinning like he owned the place.

I changed my flight and flew home the next morning.

When I finally pulled onto my street, there were police cars parked outside both our homes.

I had no idea yet just how hard karma had already struck him. ⬇️
