The old Elliott School in Germantown is being converted into condos. Built in 1915-16 to replace the 9th Ward School after it burned, Elliott School’s beautiful heart pine floors were dilapidated and covered with other flooring. Johnson Flooring is patching and restoring them.

We learned a new finishing process last week. This white oak floor is finished with Rubio Smoke and Rubio Monocoat, color: Bourbon. Rubio Monocoat is a penetrating finish that chemically bonds and hardens the top layer of wood fibers.
