When it comes to knowing when to buy organic produce, we always direct clients to Environmental Working Group and their Dirty Dozen list. Consider buying your blackberries organic - good news is they are in-season so should be regularly on sale at grocers throughout the summer. ☀️

Blackberries are new to our Dirty Dozen list this year, coming in at #10 after the USDA tested them for the first time in 2023.

Among the pesticides detected were cypermethrin, malathion and acetamiprid – insecticides linked to cancer, hormone disruption and risks to brain development, especially during pregnancy and early childhood.

If you’re a blackberry fan looking to lower your pesticide exposure:
✅ Check the freezer section for organic, budget-friendly options
✅ Wash all produce before eating

Blackberries are still packed with nutrition – rich in fiber, vitamins & antioxidants. Eat your fruits & veggies, no matter how they’re grown!
