happy thanksgiving y’all 🫶🏼 i’m feeling so grateful for everyone who’s supported this little dream of mine whether you’ve been here for a few days or a few years. thank you to the customers who have kept us going. thank you to the small business who have stocked their shelves with our candles. thank you to my team for pouring so much love and care into your days. thank you to my family and friends for the encouragement and supporting my dreams. i’m forever grateful for everyone of you.

this year has been the hardest yet, and every time i open this app, i see another business closing their doors. while it’s been scary, i wouldn’t trade it for the world and hope i can continue for more years to come. these next few weeks are what small businesses look forward to all year and will determine if we’re able to keep our doors open. so use this as a reminder that when shopping this holiday season, please buy local + small where you can.

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for new ways to unwind.

For me, sometimes I’d curl up under a comfy blanket with a hot cup of tea (or wine!) and a Netflix original. Other times I’d focus on a new creative project. Once I tried making hand dipped caramel apples...they were actually quite delicious.

But the one common thing throughout all of them was that there was always a candle burning on a table somewhere nearby.

My name is Alexis, and I’m a candle addict.

Growing up in South Jersey, creating was always my passion. Throughout school, art class was the only class I actually looked forward to each week. After high school, I decided to follow my heart, enrolling in local college for Graphic Design. While my family wasn’t exactly supportive, I loved designing and knew I wanted to use it to explore something new and exciting.

And now here I am -- owning my own business, Gold & Ivy.

After tons of research, I learned that most candles are filled with paraffin, a petroleum waste which releases a carcinogenic soot as it burns, potentially causing respiratory issues and cancer.

I know I couldn’t unwind thinking about burning that stuff around me, and I don’t expect you’d be able to, either.

That’s why all of my candles are carefully crafted using all-natural ingredients such as soy wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate free oils. Every candle is made by hand in my home studio -- from blending fragrances, designing the labels, to shipping out the finished product. Each candle is one I’d feel safe burning in my own home.

So, when you’re looking to unwind, you can with the peace of mind of a candle from Gold & Ivy.
