Archival quality.

Every print I offer reflects these principles—and Playa del Rey is no exception.

Captured at sunset during a cross-country road trip, this quiet stretch of coastline caught my eye with its natural symmetry and calming palette.

This version is printed on fine art paper, mounted under museum-grade acrylic, and finished entirely by hand. The result? A vibrant, gallery-quality piece that brings depth, clarity, and permanence to a fleeting moment.

In early May 2024, Hannah and I were on day trip driving back down Mt. Baker Highway after a snowy morning at Picture Lake. The entire landscape was covered in snow, and Picture Lake was covered in snow and Mt.Baker was hidden beneath the clouds and falling snow. Hannah was curled up in the passenger seat, enjoying one of her signature ā€œVanEtten snoozesā€ as we descended from Picture Lake, the road gently weaving through the towering evergreens

But by noon, nature called, and I knew it would be a long way to an open restroom. I pulled over at a quiet spot, the kind of place where the world feels still, and stepped out without waking her. As I walked back toward the car, something remarkable happened. I noticed a flutter of wings and realized I was being watched by a flock of gray jays.

Without thinking twice, I pulled out the all-natural fruit snack bar from my bag and broke off a piece. Holding it out in my hand, I watched in awe as one jay flew right up and perched in the palm of my hand, snagging the treat before darting back off to the trees. Soon, others followed, and before long, I was surrounded by these curious birds, each taking turns landing on my hand for a bite.

I knew Hannah would love this. Gently, I opened the car door and whispered her name. ā€œYou have to see this,ā€. She stirred, her eyes slowly focusing as she emerged from her nap. Stepping out of the car, she gasped as she saw the jays fluttering around us. I handed her a piece of the snack bar, and she extended her hand cautiously. Within seconds, a jay landed lightly on her palm, its tiny feet barely pressing into her skin as it took the treat.

Her face lit up with pure joy, and we stood there together, feeding our new feathered friends as light snow continued to fall around us. The world felt wonderfully small in that moment—just us, the gray jays, and the quiet whisper of the snowy mountains. Time seemed to slow down as we shared glances, both amazed by the unexpected magic of this simple encounter.

Deep and poetic post alert āœļø

It’s been a while since I’ve attempted some creative writing on my posts as I’ve been wrapped up in promoting my gallery and running the business. While I’ve achieved so many goals over the last several years; a lot of what I once enjoyed doing has been sitting in the backseat waiting to drive again. Earlier this year I was finally able to experience and photograph a waterfall that I had longed for.

At the base of Multnomah Falls, time slowed—each drop cascading like a moment suspended between the earth and sky, as if the falls themselves were reaching out, craving something more than just the pull of gravity. I stood there, camera in hand, trying to capture not just the image but the feeling—the roar and the whisper, the way the light danced through the mist. The lens can freeze the scene, but it could never still the craving in my heart.

As Valleyheart’s lyrics echoed in my mind, ā€œCraveā€ became more than a song; it became the way I saw through my viewfinder. Each shot wasn’t just a photograph, but a reflection of what I longed for—a sense of being truly alive, present in something far greater than myself. The weight of the world fell away with every click of the shutter, each image capturing not just a moment but a feeling I’d been chasing, always searching for.

Here, beneath the towering heights and endless mist, I understood what it meant to crave without fear. The desire to capture something so fleeting, to frame a piece of this experience while knowing no image could hold it all. There was a moment when chasing waterfalls was no longer just a hobby—it became the answer to that silent longing, to exist between the earth and sky, like the falls. Ever flowing, ever reaching, and yet always home.
