Jenn’ update on Kinnli
Day 11
A lot has been going on these past couple of days.
But - first I have to say thank you to everyone again And again. We are still so grateful for all the prayers, fasting, love, and support!!
The BEST news is- everyday she is gaining back little sensations in her legs! It’s not consistent, but it gives us hope. She has a lot of tingling. She can feel pressure when someone touches her legs. She can sometimes feel heat/cold. Just the last couple of days her legs will twitch when being pinched. She also said she can feel her brain talking to her muscles, but they just aren’t listening to her. She said her nerves are like a car wreck on a California freeway and signals are being diverted everywhere.
Kinnli has an amazing attitude every step of the way!! I can’t believe it myself- but I see it all day long. The staff absolutely loves her and she’s the dream patient. She talks their ears off non-stop, and makes them laugh so hard! Her PT peeps said they are getting a notebook to write down what she says because she has the best analogies and humor. She’s very open and accepting of her legs being paralyzed, but at the same time she is determined to walk again💛
We’ve had a lot of visitors and kinnli loves every second of it! It makes my heart happy because they bring out her biggest smiles!
We are able to move to a bigger room today! Kinnli will stay for a time now as a rehabilitation inpatient- where she will be focusing on Physical Therapy and all the skills she needs to learn to return home. The room needs to be larger so that they can work on wheelchair slides and all that other good stuff.
Kinnli had her first bath yesterday. She would spend hours bathing at home! So she enjoyed this, but was a little scared she was going to fall off the plastic bed board and drown.
She is going to start doing 2 hours of PT now instead of one. This will eventually move to more.
Kinnli is off of all constant pain medications, including Tylenol & Ibuprofen. She’s tough & must tolerate pain well, because she has hardly cried through any of this. She will continue to take meds as needed for PT because she will get sore.
Josh returned back to work today. He needed to get out of this box and feel like he was accomplishing things again. He did fantastic for sitting in a hospital for 10 days straight- but he does so much better staying busy.
