Has anyone else encountered aggressive hummingbirds? Yesterday in the garden i watched one chase off a woodpecker. It is really into my morning glories and stays around almost all day, its interesting because although it was so much smaller than the woodpecker. With his extra fast energy and that sharp beak almost as big as his body. I understand why the woodpecker flew away so fast.. once when I was sitting on my backporch one flew up and poked my forehead with its beak, It hurt just enough that i really pay attention to them. Earlier this year one drank out of my hose like a drinking fountain as I was watering, it kept drinking for awhile and I was feeling pressure to keep the stream exactly how it liked it. Like it was my little boss that I had to keep happy. Eventually after a few minutes I broke the stream and he flew off. Im noticing when they love a spot they can become very territorial and aggressive, but also very comfortable and at peace I often see him sitting still on the trellis that holds up the morning glory vines. I love when I see the hummingbirds sitting still for a minute resting. They lead such busy lives in those little bodies zipping from flower to flower all day, and challenging much bigger birds to fights when only they have swords.

This sunflower finally bloomed its so tall and has been growing for months, its so beautiful to me,im thinking its a cross, i grew paredovik sunflower in this spot last year from a free seed packet. Its a big yellow variety. The evening sun variety has been reseeding itself around my house for the past 5 years. That variety has alot of reds and browns. The color of this flower looks like evening sun but the size and petal shape looks like paredovik.

Here's a little visual of how I keep my flowers fresh while selling. I wrap the stems with a layer of paper towel. Then place in a disposable piping bag with some water and a little flower food. Secure with one mini rubberband. Then put a flower wrapping over it and secure with another mini rubberband..
