Charles Maximillion Von Wyndmoor passed away peacefully today, August 24th, at 3:41 p.m., in his mom’s arms, surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born January 6, 2014, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, to the late Maximillion Von Wyndmoor and Nayin Goldens Huffnung.
Charlie was AKC certified and came from a distinguished German Shepherd lineage, with his pedigree including champion bloodlines and an uncle who earned the prestigious title of American Kennel Club Grand Champion.
On March 14, 2014, Charlie became a Thompson when he was adopted by Chad and Keri Ann Thompson.
Charlie is survived by his loving parents, Chad and Keri Thompson; his three siblings, Landon (Allie) Thompson, Lleyton (Delaney) Thompson, and Halle (Lavon) Thompson; and his four adoring grandparents, all of whom loved him deeply.
Charlie spent the first five years of his life in Wheelersburg, Ohio, where he adored his home on Havenwood Drive. He loved swimming with his siblings and proudly took on the role of their self-appointed lifeguard. Winter was one of his favorite seasons, and nothing brought him more joy than playing in the snow or racing up the hill to chase the school bus each morning. He also loved taking all of the personal household belongings through his doggy door to display in the front yard.
In 2019, Charlie moved with his family to New Albany, Ohio, where he spent the remainder of his life in their home on Pickett Place. While Charlie had a hard time making neighborhood friends, he was the greatest protector of his home and family. Loyal, watchful, and courageous, he took his job of keeping his loved ones safe very seriously.
Charlie also proudly served as the official greeter at Simply Quartered for several years. He loved welcoming customers through the door and had a special way of making everyone feel at home. His favorite part of each workday was greeting the UPS driver, who always arrived with a special treat just for Charlie.
Charlie was a loyal companion, faithful protector, and a true member of the Thompson family. He was there for countless memories, celebrations, and quiet moments, always offering unconditional love and comfort. He especially loved family traditions, Christmas mornings filled with excitement, his annual Easter basket, and the birthday parties that were celebrated just for him. Charlie had an extraordinary way of making every day a little brighter and every moment a little more special. His love was constant, his loyalty unwavering, and his presence was one of life's greatest blessings.
As Charlie grew older, he faced challenges with incredible strength and grace. His loyalty, resilience, and gentle spirit reminded everyone around him of the extraordinary heart he had.
The Thompson family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Willow Wood Animal Hospital and MedVet Worthington for the exceptional love, compassion, and care you showed Charlie throughout his life and especially during his final day. Your kindness brought comfort to Charlie and to our entire family, and we will always be grateful.
In honor of Charlie’s life, we encourage all pet owners to give their pets an extra treat, an extra hug, or a little extra love in memory of Charlie. We know he would have loved that.
