☀️🐾 Extreme Heat is Headed Our Way – Please Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾☀️
As temperatures rise across our area, it’s important to remember that the heat can be dangerous—and even deadly—for our pets.
Here are a few simple ways to keep your furry family members safe:
🐶 Make sure they always have access to fresh, cool water.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade if your pet spends time outdoors.
🚶 Walk dogs during the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.
🔥 Avoid hot pavement! If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can become fatal very quickly.
🐾 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area immediately and contact a veterinarian.
it is illegal to have a dog on tether at any time when the temperature is above 85 degrees. If you would like to talk to an Animal Protection Deputy about a violation of the law please give us a call at 804-966-9500.
Stay cool and stay safe! ❤️🐾
