Lately, I’ve been realizing how much energy I’ve spent trying to prove myself.

Proving I’m successful enough.
Productive enough.
Smart enough.
Good enough.

I’m not saying I’ll never slip back into those old habits. I probably will.

But I’m becoming more aware of them.

And I’m finding myself choosing something different more often.

More sunsets.
More conversations with strangers in little taverns.
More wandering through used bookstores.
More weekend getaways.
More moments that remind me life isn’t waiting somewhere down the road.

It’s happening right now.

So here’s to…

How much of our lives are spent trying to earn something that was never ours to earn?

Approval.
Worth.
Belonging.

We chase success, money, the perfect body, the perfect title, hoping that one day we’ll finally feel like we’ve arrived.

Lately, I’ve been wondering…

What if belonging was never the destination?

What if it was the starting place?

Maybe the work isn’t proving we’re enough.

Maybe the work is remembering we always were.

I already belong. I don’t have to earn my place. 💛

Every morning, B and I start the day the same way.

Coffee for me.

A scratch under the chin for her.

The birds sing. She closes her eyes. Neither of us is in a hurry.

It’s funny how the simplest routines can become your favorite part of the day.

I almost turned on music tonight.

Instead, I listened to the rain.

I’m really starting to believe there’s beauty hiding in the quiet moments… if we’re willing to notice them.

I’m not looking for extraordinary things.

I’m just trying to look a little closer at the ordinary.
