From an idea in his head… to THIS. 🖤

There’s something pretty incredible about watching a piece go from absolutely nothing to a finished piece of furniture—and this one was 100% Thomas from start to finish.

He designed this coffee table from the ground up, working through every measurement, angle and detail before bringing the entire thing to life in the shop. From the clean, modern lines and open design to those custom angled legs, every part of this table was intentional.

And can we talk about those legs?! 😍 They give the entire piece so much character while still keeping that sleek, modern feel.

This is exactly what we love about custom woodworking. You aren’t limited to what you can find in a store. Sometimes you start with an idea, figure out how to make it work, and build something that didn’t exist until you created it.

Thomas, you absolutely knocked this one out of the park. 🔥

✨ WHEN A VISION COMES TO LIFE ✨

This is exactly why we love collaborating with The Flip Side Restorations. ❤️

When Christi brought this dresser home, it had already lived quite a life. It originally belonged to a man’s great-grandmother, and while it had definitely seen better days, she immediately had a vision for what it could become.

And then she came to me with, “Soooo… I have an idea.” 😂

Our part was bringing a couple of those ideas to life — creating the custom scalloped detail along the bottom and building the changing station for the top. From there, Christi worked her magic, completely transforming this worn, forgotten dresser into something beautiful.

But the best part is what this piece is becoming.

A dresser that once belonged to someone’s great-grandmother is now going into a nursery, ready to be used for a brand-new baby. 🥹 Talk about a piece of furniture coming full circle.

We love getting to work alongside The Flip Side Restoration on projects like this. She sees potential in pieces most people would walk right past, and every once in a while, we get to break out the tools and help make those crazy ideas in her head actually work. 😉

From generations past to a brand-new generation… this one is pretty special. 💚

✨ From Buckeye Cookie to One-of-a-Kind Statement Piece ✨

Back in November, I was lucky enough to win this incredible Buckeye cookie from The Wood Shed Arlington. From the moment I brought it home, Thomas knew it deserved to become something special… but he also knew it couldn’t be rushed. We spent months waiting for the right vision.

Then we found a beautiful piece of Calico Hickory, and everything just clicked.

Thomas designed every detail of this table to complement the Buckeye top without taking away from its natural beauty. The sculpted legs, the flowing lines, and the Calico Hickory accents were all handcrafted to showcase what nature had already created. The result is a piece that feels organic, modern, and completely one of a kind.

This is why we love what we do. Sometimes the wood tells you exactly what it wants to become—you just have to be patient enough to listen.

We’re incredibly proud of how this one turned out, and we hope you love it as much as we do. ❤️

🪵 Custom craftsmanship makes all the difference. 🪵

One of our favorite parts of working together is watching an old piece come back to life.

This antique dresser had amazing bones, but it needed more than just paint—it needed a new foundation.

Working alongside The Flip Side Restorations, we designed and built custom bottom trim, risers, and mahogany wood tapered legs to completely transform the profile of the dresser. By lifting the piece and creating a cleaner base, we were able to give it a sleek, modern look while preserving the charm and character that made it worth saving.

Once the woodworking was complete, The Flip Side Creations took over, removing years of wear, refinishing the mahogany top, updating the hardware, and giving the dresser a gorgeous new finish that truly made it shine.

Projects like this are why we love what we do. It’s more than restoring furniture—it’s combining craftsmanship and creativity to give beautiful pieces another chapter.

We’re incredibly proud of how this one turned out, and we couldn’t have asked for a better partner than The Flip Side Creations to bring the vision to life.

🤎 A custom piece for a brand new chapter. 🤎

When our son and his girlfriend moved into their first apartment together, we wanted to build them something that would always remind them of home.

So Thomas headed to the shop and built this console table completely from scratch.

Every board was carefully selected to highlight the beautiful natural grain and stunning spalting. Instead of hiding the imperfections, we let the wood tell its story—because that’s what makes each piece truly one of a kind.

Designed to sit perfectly behind their sofa, this table adds warmth, function, and a handcrafted touch to their new home. Whether it’s holding a lamp, family photos, or becoming the catch-all for everyday life, we hope it’s a piece they’ll enjoy for many years to come.

One of my favorite things about handmade furniture is knowing exactly where it ends up. This isn’t just another project—it was built with love for our family, and that’s what makes it so special.

Here’s to new beginnings, first apartments, and filling a house with pieces that have a story. ❤️

A special little guy in our life turned 11 today! 🥳💚🐬

He’s a HUGE Miami Dolphins fan (poor kid… 😂🫣), so we wanted to build him something he actually needed and turn it into something he’d absolutely love.

Projects like this are exactly why we’re Walnut & Ember Creations.

Thomas has an incredible talent for taking a simple piece of wood and transforming it into something beautiful. Then I get to add the finishing touch with the laser, making each piece personal and one of a kind.
It’s the perfect combination of woodworking and custom engraving—and honestly, that’s what makes this business so special to us. We each bring something different to the table, and together we get to create pieces that tell a story.
