DO always budget for accessories when pulling together a design scheme. If you budget from the beginning, you’ll ensure you’ll have money at the end to accessorize, avoiding a boring space.

DO tell your own story. Go though what you already own, and see what works with your scheme. Adding memorabilia such as family heirlooms, photographs, and your interests shows who you are as a person. Having things you love around you will guarantee you’ll enjoy your space more. We ADORE coffee table books🥰 They’re beautiful, informative, entertaining, and great conversation starters! Whether you are dreaming of your own collection, or already collect this little works of art, here are 3 stapes to give them the attention they deserve, along with adding color, texture, and interest to your spaces.

1. Grab 2-4 coffee table books. Stack them from largest to smallest. (It’s ok if one is longer than the others. It’s totally fine as long as they are similar in size.)

2. Use a flat (short) accessory that’s a little smaller than the top book …a decorative dish, bowl, basket, or anything that fits on the top book.

3. Place 1-3 sculptural items on top of the stack of books. Plants work too! If you used a flat item such as a tray of flat dish, place your sculptural item right on top of the flat item.)

Thoughts: think small plants, brass figurines, tall candlesticks, vases, decorative boxes all work here to add layers and texture.

Let’s go deeper: •Decorating in odd numbers is a designer secret.
•Aim for a particular aesthetic such as using all neutral-colored coffee table books with only 1 or 2 pops of color
•Ground high-end decor with special mementos together.

Most importantly: Have Fun! Use things you love while keeping clutter at bay by ‘anchoring’ your treasured times.
