We had the pleasure of working with last year to bring to life , her vibrant, warm all day cafe which has quickly become a New Orleans neighborhood gem. We recently captured the space with our long time friend and collaborator and are so happy to share. We hope you enjoy this wonderful place as much as we do!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Built within the bones of a historic general store, Cafe Malou celebrates the everyday moments that transform a restaurant into an extension of home. More than a restaurant, Malou serves as a neighborhood heartbeat where the ritual of morning coffee and shared meals inspires the kind of daily connections that make a community feel like family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cafe Malou’s mercantile heritage informed the design from the beginning, with a walk-up counter serving as the space’s focal point—the first thing that draws you in, honoring the origins of what was once a neighborhood store.

The latticed bar at our Garden District project transformed the way this 1853 Greek Revival home feels. By reopening the original center hall and connecting it to the lush rear garden, we brought Louisiana sunshine into the heart of the house. The soft green grey latticework with mirrored shelving multiplies the light, while the large wicker pendant from and tumbled stone floors lean into the indoor-outdoor connection.

Tucked beneath the staircase in a recent historic renovation, this powder room makes the most of its compact footprint. Walls are paneled in lacquered mahogany—echoing the rich wood already featured throughout the home— with feather wallpaper adding unexpected color and pattern. It turned out so moody and rich!

Charmed by this cheerful bathroom update for our Audubon Victorian project. Grounded in an earthy color palette and layered with vintage detailing, it never ceases to make us smile.
