We want to share an honest update with you.

In early August 2024 (just days after our last live which was Christmas in July🎅) a level of dysfunction so foreign to us, entered our lives and turned our quiet family upside down. And as I write this, we’re still putting the pieces back together and helping our child regain their sense of self, and safety.

At the same time all of this has been happening the costs of running our little candle shop continue to climb, and it’s reached a point where we need to make a decision. We can keep fighting it by raising prices again and again, but that doesn’t feel good to us, or take a pause.

So instead of forcing it, we are choosing to take a step back for a season.

Part of this is business, and part of it is personal. After the year and a half that we’ve just endured plus, and Ali is getting ready to leave for college, we want to be present for this stretch in our family life instead of spending it stressed and stretched thin.

You know how much we value making memories and being with our kids and so for us this really matters, and we want to be in it with our whole hearts.

This isn’t goodbye. We LOVE making candles, the creativity, the scents, the pours, and the tiny moments of comfort they bring into your homes.

We also love the community we’ve built together. So many of you have been here from the beginning, carrying our little family through the shelter in place days and beyond. We have never taken that for granted.

Here’s what to expect going forward:
We’ll still do special pours when we can, and we will announce them by text so it’s simple, direct, and you’re the first to know.

We’re hopeful that things can turn around, and we would love nothing more than to come back strong, in a way that feels exciting instead of stressful.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being here, for supporting our us, for letting our candles be part of your homes, routines, hard days, and cozy ones. It has meant more to our family than you probably realize.

As we close out this year, Ryan and I want to say the biggest thank you. Every candle you welcomed into your home, every Vault scent you tried, and every message you sent about how our candles made your space feel a little cozier has meant so much to us. Because of you, we were able to partner with the New Prague Wishing Tree again this holiday season, and five percent of every purchase in November and December is going toward giving local kids the chance to open a gift picked just for them. Their parents write the wish, we deliver the magic, and you make it possible.

Thank you for supporting our little candle shop and for allowing us to add a touch of warmth to your home. We are so grateful for you. We wish you a Merry Christmas, a peaceful holiday season, and a very Happy New Year. Ryan and Jess 🌟

PS - When we took the kids to Six Flags for MEA we had to buy tickets to get in so we also indulged on some kiddy rides 🤣 and it was SO much fun. Ryan (my guy who HATES selfies pulled his phone out and snapped this one before we took off). I'm so thankful that you brought him out of his shell over the years and he actually takes pictures with me now!

We are officially getting close. Peppermint Frost & Vanilla, our final Vault scent of 2025, releases on December 1, and once this batch is gone, it will not return. This scent is fresh, uplifting, and soft enough for even the most sensitive noses, and it's the perfect way to close out the year. If you love having the monthly Vault scents before anyone else, make sure you are on the VIP list so you do not miss this one. We only pour one batch, and when the doors close, the Vault stays closed.

I have been waiting all year to pour this one. When I sat down to build our December scent, I knew I wanted peppermint, but not the candy-shop sweetness of Santa’s Workshop. That one is playful and sugary and nostalgic, almost like stepping into a kitchen full of frosted cookies. Peppermint Frost & Vanilla is different. I wanted something cleaner, lighter, and more soothing, the kind of peppermint that feels like fresh air and not dessert. So I blended it with a soft vanilla that doesn’t overpower, and then added frosted juniper for that cool evergreen lift.

The result is a peppermint candle you can burn anywhere in your home without it ever becoming too much, which is important because my nose is as sensitive as they come. It feels bright and comforting at the same time, like stepping outside into crisp air and then walking into a warm room right after. It is simple, fresh, and so peaceful, and I cannot wait for you to smell it!

We did it again!! Maple & Aged Bourbon sold out! From our family to yours, thank you for loving these little batches as much as we love making them. You’ve supported us since 2020, and every single candle means the world. Remember, 5% of every sale goes to The Helping People Project, and right now it’s all going toward holiday gifts for kids who would otherwise go without. 🎅

It’s live! Maple & Aged Bourbon is officially out of the Vault and into your hands. Think warm pancakes, slow bourbon, and the kind of cozy that makes you cancel plans just to stay home. This one is small batch, so once it’s gone, it’s gone. Run, don’t walk, to the website before the Vault closes. 🍁

We’re labeling, boxing, and trying not to burn through them ourselves before launch day 😆😅. Maple & Aged Bourbon might be my favorite yet, it’s that perfect cozy-meets-grown-up blend that fills the room but never overpowers it. I wanted it to smell like a season you wish would stay a little longer. Small batch as always, because that’s how we keep it special. 🥰

🙌🏼 The whole house smelled like heaven on pour day! That slow drizzle of maple, the smooth warmth of bourbon, and a soft hint of oak that keeps it grounded. I stood over the batches thinking, this smells like fall grew up 😆. Every candle we pour starts right here in our kitchen, with music playing, family walking in and out, and me trying to capture a feeling more than a scent.

I wanted this scent to feel like slowing down time. We’d just gotten back from Six Flags and walked the streets of Chicago as a family, and somewhere between the laughter, the wind off the lake, and realizing I now have a senior and a sophomore, it hit me how fast everything’s moving. I wanted to bottle that feeling, the sweet warmth of slow mornings and late-night talks that make you want to hold on a little longer. That’s where Maple & Aged Bourbon began.

This man would NEVER take a selfie with me before we had our candle family. EVER. Then, I kid you not, we're walking into Minnesota's Largest Candy Store and HE stops me to take a selfie 😳. I about fell over. So I'm here to thank you for two things... bringing this handsome guy out of his shell so he's not so camera shy AND for your continued support. We hope those of you who were able to get October's Vault scent, Haunted Woods, absolutely love it. I certainly feel close to my dad when I burn it. Happy October!! 🎃 👻
