Lemieux Et Cie

Lemieux Et Cie Acclaimed Designer Christiane Lemieux launches her newest brand “Lemieux Et Cie”.

The first collection entitled “Artisanal Modernism”, is inspired by the European 20th century and artist’s ateliers from the likes of Jean Arp and Brancusi.

Summer's winding down, and soon everyone's back at it: school, work, full calendars. Which makes the bedroom the room you retreat to at the end of it all. For Labor Day, everything's 20% off and Corvaux is 30%. Whatever your style, there's a collection for it, fluted Ondara, scalloped Marchand, cerused-oak Corvaux, plus beds like the Avenir. August 31–September 8.

There is a limit to what a screen can tell you about a fabric. Color it handles well. Texture it does not.

New fabrics join our made-to-order seating this week. Mohair, with a pile that springs back and shifts in the light. Performance Matelassé, the look of hand-quilting woven straight into the cloth. Performance Brushed Woven, plush with the weave still visible. Micro Bouclé and Performance Bouclé at the same fine scale, one deliberately uneven, the other knit tight and even. And Kravet Textured Solids, a velvety pile with a high and low to it, so a solid never reads flat.

Swatches are $3 and ship priority. Order now and take advantage of our Labor Day sale, starting August 31.

Some pieces fill a room. Corvaux defines one. Cerused oak with the grain drawn out by hand, brass inlay set line by line, turned-sphere details, neo-deco through and through. The Credenza, the Console, the Dining Table, all 30% off right now. The centerpiece you build a home around. Then finish the room: 20% off all lighting through September 10.

Why do the best tables wear stone and metal? Because they only get better. Marble and travertine stay cool to the touch, shrug off heat and the odd spilled glass, and carry veining no two slabs will ever share. Hammered iron, bronze, and brass trade shine for a patina that can't be rushed. Neither wears out; both settle in. Choose one and you're not decorating for now, you're choosing what's still here, more beautiful, long after the trend has moved on.

Here's a secret: a library was never about the size of the room. It's a chair you can disappear into, a lamp low and warm, a desk for the letters you still mean to write, and shelves that fill in over the years. Start with the corner, and let the books catch up. Seating, desks, and storage worth building a reading life around, plus paper nice enough that you might actually write the letter.

New from Lemieux et Cie, and a little hard to categorize: four handmade ceramic forms, Taiko, Enso, Kado, and Hashira, that work just as well as a stool or an end table, indoors or out. Four shapes, three glazes, and a reactive kiln that refuses to make two the same. Pick your shape, pick your glaze, and enjoy owning the only one quite like it. Sit on it, or set a drink on it. It won't mind either way.

Designer's favorite: the three sectionals we reach for again and again. The Serpentine curves through a room like a signature. The Rulmann sits low and rounded, the kind you sink into and lose an afternoon. The Lacroix goes deep and modular, made for long weekends and full houses. One question decides it: what's the room for?
