A last minute detour that led to something much bigger.

Interior designers Rebekah and Nick of Imparfait Design Studio(), with Nick also a carpenter by trade, found this Michigan property in rough shape. “It looked like a horror film was being shot here,” Rebekah says.

What followed was a full gut renovation they largely took on themselves, transforming it before ever really living in it. It began as a finished escape—a second home in wine country—until April 2020, when they made the decision to move in full time.
