A room this layered needs a quiet wall to stand on. ‘Khiva Raindrop’ in parchment gives it, with soft rows of arches drawn from the Silk Road city of Khiva, tonal enough to hold color, pattern, and art without competing.

Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth’s first home boldly layers color and pattern. Three Sabyasachi weaves create their Chennai living room — a rose-garden velvet, a lotus linen, and ‘Coromandel,’ named for the nearby coast.

Sabyasachi’s’ Spice Route’ takes its name from the roads that carried India’s goods west for centuries. In deep oxblood it frames the doorway here, opening onto ‘Jamshed Jamavar;’ a paisley drawn from the woven Kashmiri shawl, the kind built into the cloth thread by thread and once among the most prized textiles a Mughal court could own.

Two designs, beautifully ushered into a modern era.

Damask has dressed grand rooms since it traveled out of Damascus along the Silk Road. Sabyasachi’s version, ‘Landour,’ is seen here framed behind glass and worked into a cabinet, fabric shown like an artifact rather than a furnishing.

Madhubani is one of India’s oldest living folk arts, painted for generations by the women of Mithila on the walls of their own homes. The ‘Geet Madhubani’ wallpaper carries that tradition into a custom charcoal colorway, beautifully designed in a bedroom by Vidhi Mehta

A take on “her” bathroom with Tarun Tahiliani and Purple Backyard | Interior Design interior design.

The boteh (paisley teardrop) has been India’s most-traveled motif for centuries, carried out of Kashmir and into courts and fashion across the world. Tarun Tahiliani softens it into faded porcelain here, blush and sage worn like an old textile. Available to the trade only.

Sabyasachi’s ‘Pashm’ quietly lines a bedroom at Casa Verano. It’s named for pashmina, the fine wool of Kashmir, and behaves like the fabric with it’s soft, textured, and tonal look.

This wall is designed to recede so everything in front of it can lead. The carved wooden bed, with its turned posts and sculptural headboard, is the statement, and Pashm gives it the calm, textured backdrop it needs to hold the room.
