Here are some of the artworks I’ve curated for my Carroll Gardens client.

I spent several years at Christie’s auction house where I was surrounded by the best of art and design, before studying art history at NYU. Museums and galleries are part of my everyday life.

So, my clients get one-part interior designer + one-part art advisor. Without the art, the design would fall flat.

Can’t wait to see these installed!

How does an interior designer get to know a client’s style?

For me, it’s a multi-step process through the Conceptual Design phase, culminating with the highlight of the project: the “V.I.P.” Showrooms Day — a luxury, fun guided excursion, introducing my clients to my favorite NYC-based design galleries.

Some aren’t open to the public.

Many are private lofts above ground level.

And most aren’t known to those outside of interior design circles.

Read the BLOG to see where I take my clients to show them new design ideas.

How I uncover my clients’ personal design aesthetic.

Did you know that even “low-V.O.C.” labeled house paint is filled with toxic chemicals?

As a certified WELL AP, I wanted to avoid bringing toxins into for my client’s bath.

So I turned to a mineral paint by L.A.-based entrepreneur . This innovative, all-natural Cradle to Cradle certified product is made of Earth’s rock, the way that paint had been produced over millennia.

Its subtle texture is beautiful. And it doesn’t have that “fresh paint” smell, which you never want to breathe in.

Consider me sold on it for all my future projects!

Flooring showroom visit with my UES client. We’re replacing the bamboo that had been sloppily added by the prior homeowners with a good quality engineered wood. My trusty GC referred me to the vendor, and we were in good hands with the expert who guided us through the selection.

New project is kicking off! My UES pied-a-terre client — the one who had first hired me for an exploratory design phase that I told you about — is moving forward with the full project.

We’re renovating the 1-BR’s galley kitchen, replacing floors, updating the bathroom, painting, outfitting the closets, installing custom window treatments, and doing full furnishings for all rooms.

It’s a high rise unit with amazing light and panoramic views. The client hired me to transform it into a fresh but characterful space to use as her NYC second home.

Last week I posted about why I use a receiving warehouse for my design projects. And guess what??

Next day, my receivers alerted me that a coffee table arrived to the warehouse damaged: the top was cracked and the legs had scratches. (It happens.)

So, immediately notified the vendor, and requested a replacement.

The old table is now getting picked up from the receiver’s dock, and the new one is shipping in its place.

I even got the vendor to reimburse my client for the replacement table’s receiving charges.

Imagine this scenario if the homeowner didn’t use a designer… OR, if I shipped furniture directly to my client’s home:

1 The busy client might not have opened the package in time to report the damage.

2 The shippers would be calling the client, leaving voicemails about re-delivery + pickup time scheduling.

3 The client would need to be around for the pickup of the original damaged table PLUS accept another delivery of the replacement.

4 Two tables would be taking up space in the client’s home: one broken + one replacement.

It would be so frustrating!

Working with a designer who has a professional operating system behind her saves you headaches. It’s the luxury of seamless behind-the-scenes logistics.

And you know what the funny thing is? My client will probably never even know their first table got damaged. I already took care of it!
