Finally! Furniture and art installation day at the UES pied-a-terre.

I had an awesome crew of art handlers and professional movers working with me.

This was a complex day: a 12’ Korean panel was wall-mounted and all the new furniture needed to be delivered from the receiving warehouse within limited building hours.

Rugs placed, tv installed, bedding made, shower curtain hung, books shelved…whew!

To me, “timeless design” means blending vintage and antiques from different eras and parts of the globe, together in one layered but cohesive space. It does NOT mean a design that’s so “safe” that it feels banal.

If you travel frequently or work a rigorous schedule, you know how good it feels to come home at the end of a long day.

Especially to a serene, relaxing bedroom.

And that means a nicely made bed to greet you.

It feels good to see a luxuriously made bed (even when nobody else is looking).

Sounds like I nailed the Schematic Design presentation for Lincoln Square. Clients said they were impressed I pulled together the plan so quickly, really listened to their many needs and desires, and that I have a great eye. I’ll take the compliment :)

A few days in Santa Fe. Kinda touristy, but very pleasant. Sunshine, mild climate, excellent Mexican food, great margaritas, and even a day of soaking in a natural hot springs spa at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs.

Can’t escape design in Santa Fe: I got to visit talented weaver Anjuli Bernstein at her new local studio, put a face with the name of Asian antiques dealer Sunnyside Trading Co., and discover beautiful design galleries like Neighbour and Santa Kilim.

Art installation and final furnishings delivery wrapped up my Carroll Gardens project. I brought in professional art handlers to mount paintings, mirror, wall fixtures. The guys were amazing!

A few punch list items to take care of for my nice clients, and then it will be complete.

VIP Showrooms Day excursion — with my Lincoln Square client. This was an “abridged” shorter day, but we still made it to 8 showrooms in 4 hours!

My client got to see and feel Scandinavian modern seating, contemporary glass lighting, Italian vintage design, New Zealand rugs, English custom millwork.

Then I used our visit as my inspiration for the design scheme I’m preparing for them.

Take away the whimsical chinoiserie footstool, and the design starts to fall flat.

That’s the power of a great accessory.

I’m excited about a new project in a beautiful high rise, right around the corner from Lincoln Center.

It’s a pied-a-terre for an L.A.-based client who will share the space with his bi-coastal adult children.

The views out to Central Park and Upper Manhattan are incredible — it’s like an urban treehouse. Two terraces flank a Mid Century style space, with teak paneling wrapping the perimeter.

We’re replacing flooring to unify the dark cherry wood, swapping hardware to match throughout the combo unit, updating the kitchen backsplash, and doing full furnishings throughout.
