"I have made this cake very often in the last 15 years. Its as near perfect as anything I have ever baked. It seems rather simple, underdressed, but that is what makes a perfect surprise. Seriously, I prefer it plain, just as it is, maybe a sprinkle of powdered sugar to make it gorgeous, thats it. The Dutch eat it every day for a snack!"

For the Christmas season my grandmother made a powdered sugar coated cookie, but it wasn’t the classic snowball or wedding cookie. It was crispy, chewy, tender, and moist all in one bite. Took forever to find the recipe in her binder, I must have passed over it so many times, but now that I have finally made it, I know that this recipe made those cookies that I loved every holiday season.
