Part 2

Follow up from yesterday’s post on our Shelter Island project: When our clients purchased the house, there was already a beautiful hand painted mural on the dining room walls. It was the blues and greens in that mural, as well as the elements of land, sky and sea outside the home, that inspired the colors we chose for the rugs in that room and the adjacent Living room.

Update from our Sutton Place project! The kitchen is finally finished and ready for move in. So grateful to Customwood and the beautiful millwork they do.
Loving how the gorgeous backsplash from turned out as well as the super clean lines of the sink. What do you think of the space? Can’t wait to show the rest of this stunning renovation soon.

Laying out the herringbone pattern of the kitchen floor tile sourced from in our Sutton Place South renovation. A test fitting like this will show how it will relate to the adjacent wood floor and whether we need to shift it before the final install.

A recent visit to the workroom in the Port Morris neighborhood of the Bronx. Checked out a custom sofa in the muslin stage so we have an opportunity to tweak the details, such as how firm or soft to make the seat cushions, before the sofa is completed. Thanks

The kitchen and pantry are shaping up nicely. There used to be a wall between the dining room and kitchen with a small, dark galley kitchen behind. By opening it up we were able to create a much more expansive feel for the whole space, with a large peninsula counter to gather round coming soon.

Swipe through to see before and in progress shots of the primary bedroom closets at our Sutton Place South project. Loving the dedicated shoe closets on the right which we were able to tuck into a niche in the hallway created by shifting the entrance to the bedroom suite. Can’t wait to share more from this project…

I hesitate to post images of the chaos that can ensue at a typical NYC project with limited time and space, but here is a glimpse into our Sutton Place project in the weeks before completion. Rooms are filled with materials, multiple subs and vendors from different companies are sharing the space, painters are sanding and the plaster dust lands everywhere. As much as I love seeing everyone “play” nicely together, and gratefully they are, I cannot wait for when we get this all cleaned up and the transformation is fully revealed

We are moving along on our Sutton Place project. Swipe to see what the space looked like before. Pictured here is the new gallery space, between the foyer, living room and dining rooms. It was originally part of a larger than necessary living room and will eventually house 4 niches with custom millwork and lighting to display the client’s Native American art collection. The space has been opened up, doors have been relocated to better organize the flow, and new chevron floors have been added to elevate and differentiate the space from the straight plank floors in the adjacent rooms. In the next few weeks things are really going to start coming together. Can’t wait!

Roofers preparing the terrace for furniture and landscaping at our Madison Avenue office project. They actually have to screw down and tether everything to ensure nothing gets blown off this 19th floor terrace in a bad storm. You wouldn’t think it’s possible for a heavy piece of furniture, but the wind can get pretty fierce up here, and even the plants have to be carefully chosen to withstand a lot of wind.

Late afternoon light at our project overlooking the Hudson River. There was nothing on the fireplace wall originally, not even a fireplace. Loving how this focal point wall came together with the use of a Hearth cabinet fireplace unit, brass shelving from textured stone from custom millwork by Customwood and lighting by
