When Sofia realized she was pregnant, she tried not to get excited too soon. After several years of failed attempts, she had gotten used to not believing in miracles completely, so she simply kept living, trying not to think about the worst.
But the strange things began almost immediately, and it wasn’t a person who noticed it first. It was the horse.
The old bay stallion named Argus had lived in their yard for many years. He was calm, almost lazy, rarely reacted sharply to anything, and always behaved the same way.
Until Sofia started going out to him with a slightly rounded belly.
The first time, she didn’t pay attention. Argus simply came closer than usual, lowered his head, and almost touched her belly with his muzzle.
— Hey… what are you doing? — she said quietly, stepping back slightly.
The horse didn’t move. It stood still, as if listening.
The next day, everything repeated.
As soon as Sofia stepped into the yard, Argus immediately walked toward her. He no longer waited for apples and didn’t reach for her hands. Only one thing interested him — her belly.
He gently touched it with his lips, snorted softly, and sometimes ran his muzzle along the fabric, as if trying to feel something.
Sofia began to feel uneasy. This no longer looked like ordinary affection. It looked… strange.
A few days later, she went out to the horse alone. Argus approached too quickly and, at one point, suddenly reared up, placing his front hooves on her shoulders.

At that moment, her husband Daniel appeared and pulled the horse away.

But there was no answer. The veterinarian examined Argus and confidently stated that the animal was fine. The horse was completely healthy.

Argus began to grow nervous when Sofia came closer and reacted especially aggressively toward Daniel. He could suddenly jerk his head back, strike with his hoof, or snort as if he sensed a threat.
