We’re bringing A Taste of Mi Kasa to Éstom Jámani Dining Center for a special Chef Takeover on Wednesday, May 6th from 5–8 PM (or until sold out 👀).

This event is open to all students, staff, faculty, and guests — no meal plan? No problem! Entry is $12 for guests without one.

From our very first Lunar Market to this Valentine’s weekend… wow, what a ride 🥹✨

Lunar Market was actually the FIRST event we ever did. Back then it was me cooking empanadas at home with my husband, my mom was living in Florida with my sister, and I was basically frying nonstop in my kitchen like a one-woman empanada factory 😅 then packing them up ready to go.

First market? We sold 19 empanadas… and honestly we thought we were famous already 😂
Second time? Maybe 30 (growth!! but still humble lol).

This past weekend? We made 184 empanadas, yes MADE-TO-ORDER… and SOLD OUT before the market even finished. Like… what?! 🥹❤️ I almost cried (and also almost needed a nap because frying that many is no joke).

It’s emotional to see how something that started at home, with family, faith, and a lot of oil splatter 😅 has grown into this beautiful community journey. Every single person who buys, shares, hypes us up, or just stops by to chat — you’re part of our story.

Huge thank you to Lucía for hosting and to everyone who makes possible. These events mean so much to small businesses like ours.

And to everyone who keeps showing up for us — THANK YOU. Truly. We can’t wait for all the 2026 markets… more empanadas, more memories, and hopefully slightly less frying chaos 😂🥟✨

I came to this country as a first-generation immigrant with nothing but hope, ganas, and a dream of building a better life.

Here, I found love. I built a family. I created a home.
And through years of hard work, long days, and sacrifice, I was finally able to bring my mom here, not for luxury, but so she could age with dignity, safety, and peace.

Immigration isn’t a crime.
It’s a love story.
It’s family.
It’s survival.
It’s mothers who gave everything, and daughters who do everything they can to give back.

When I say abolish ICE, I say it because no one should live in fear of being torn away from the people they love. No abuela should fear her final years. No child should fear coming home to an empty house.

At A Taste of Mi Kasa, “mi casa” has always meant your home too.
We cook with memory, with culture, and with the belief that everyone deserves to belong.
