As members of the American Wing Visiting Committee studying landscapes and the decorative arts, we returned to the monumental three-part window from the studios of Louis Comfort Tiffany, titled Garden Landscape. The window was designed by Agnes Northrop and was largely executed by women. We were invited, as a special treat, to see the back of the window and the complex way it was made - for example, sometimes stacking five pieces of glass to render individual flowers naturalistically. (The hydrangeas were our favorite!) Nonnie Frelinghuysen is the chief curator responsible for the acquisition of this window and its exhibition. Its extensive history is documented on the Met's website: https://www.metmuseum.org
