My husband and I have differing opinions on whether or not we should raise our electric fireplace a few inches by building a platform underneath it. What says you?

It is just under 3 feet tall at the moment. Our ceilings are 10 feet high. Mantle and wall decor tips also appreciated. The frame and mirror are not permanent fixtures. ☺️

Backsplash help! 😃

On my previous post, everyone suggested that I leave the countertops alone — I had been considering covering them — and instead focus on changing the backsplash.

So I went out and picked three options that I really love, but now I’m second-guessing whether any of them actually work in this space.

Which one would you choose, if any? I’d love honest opinions.

EDIT: If you don’t like any of the three, that’s totally okay too! I’d just really appreciate a suggestion for what you think *would* work, because choosing backsplash tile is way harder than I expected. 😂

Does anyone have **Drift of Mist** in their home? Or any other recommendations for a **very, very light greige/white**?

Choosing a paint color is about to send me over the edge. 🫠🤪

So far:

• **Shoji White** — too yellow
• **Greek Villa** — too yellow
• **Aesthetic White** — too pink
• **Gossamer Veil** — too gray
• **Drift of Mist at 75%** — too cool
• **Snowbound** — too stark

I’m now considering **regular-strength Drift of Mist**, but I’m worried it may end up looking too dark.

Has anyone used it and loved it? Or found another very light greige/white that stays soft and neutral without pulling yellow, pink, or too gray?

I’m currently in the process of hiring a contractor to remodel my very 80s kitchen, and I’m trying to think through all the little details before we get started.

For those of you who have already remodeled your kitchen, what did you think you were going to LOVE but ended up regretting?

Things like:

• Pull-out trash cans that aren’t deep enough
• Lazy Susan corner cabinets that drive you crazy
• Pull-out spice racks that hit another cabinet
• Sharp or awkward cabinet pulls
• Storage features that sounded great but don’t work well in real life

Basically, what would you NOT choose again?

I’d also love to hear about any unusual or less common choices you made that you absolutely love and would definitely do again.

Feel free to share photos too — I’m trying to make good decisions now so I don’t end up regretting them later. 😊

I know paint colors are a huge topic here, but I could really use some help because I do NOT want to repeat my last paint mistake. 😅

On my last project, I chose **Sherwin-Williams Dover White**, and even after testing it on the walls, it ended up looking way too yellow in that house. So now I’m completely gun-shy about choosing another white.

For this house, I’m thinking about doing **light/white walls with darker doors and trim**, paired with **brass/gold hardware**.

I have a few Sherwin-Williams samples up now, but my brain is officially working overtime trying to decide.

The wood floors also look much more red/brown in some of these photos than they do in person, so I added a better picture for reference.

Right now, I *might* be leaning toward:

**Walls:** SW Alabaster
**Doors & trim:** SW Neutral Ground
**Hardware:** Gold/brass

Does that combination sound like it would work, or would you choose a different warm white/darker neutral pairing?

I’m open to other color suggestions too. You guys have been amazing with recommendations — thank you!

I’d love your opinion!

I’m redoing my foyer and stairwell area — I’ll add the before pictures in the comments. We finally removed the horrible blue carpet. 🙌

The living room is a deep **eggplant purple**, so I chose this wallpaper to help tie the spaces together. For some reason it looks a little more pink/wine in the photos than it does in person. 🤷‍♀️

Now I need to choose a paint color for the remaining walls and hallway.

I’ve narrowed it down to **five colors** and taped the wallpaper sample and paint chips directly to the wall so I could see everything together in the actual lighting.

Which one do you like best with the wallpaper and adjoining purple room? 💜✨

So, our detergent fell off the shelf above the machine and into the machine, where it then exploded. About 75% of it spilled out and drained out the bottom of the drum into the drain. What do I do now? Should I run a few empty cycles? Do I need to get to the drain and sop up the soap? Is this like a dishwasher, where more soap is very bad? Picture doesn’t really show the magnitude, but sharing so you can have a laugh at our misfortune.
