Better than Starbucks horchata latte ☕️ There’s nothing more satisfying than an ice cold glass to get your coffee fix on a hot summer day. I’ve been making this recipe for several years & it never disappoints.
1c long grain rice (jasmine, basmati, etc)
2.5 c warm water
1.5 tsp cinnamon
1/2-2/3c sweetened condensed milk
1tsp vanilla extract
4 c milk
1-2 shots espresso (per serving)
**For a deeper flavor & creamier texture, combine rice & water in a container for 4 hours or overnight before blending**
Combine rice & water in blender with cinnamon & vanilla. Blend for 2 minutes until light in color & rice is finely blended. Strain twice in a mesh strainer or once through a cheese cloth. Add milk & sweetened condensed milk & adjust sweetness to taste. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
For latte, fill glass with ice & fill 2/3 with horchata. Top with espresso or cold brew. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon & enjoy! (You can also enjoy hot!)
*horchata will naturally settle in the fridge so shake before pouring over ice.
