“Le Jardin” features a new body of work by Manon Steyaert that comprises three distinct series, shifting between minimal, gestural, and sculptural approaches. Incorporating materials such as oak, linen, oil paint and silicone, Steyaert invokes the organic and man-made qualities of the garden while exploring themes of beauty, chaos, and control. Her continued use of silicone acts as a “smokescreen” over painted canvases, allowing diffused glows of color to ebb and vibrate beneath a frosted draped surface.

Le Jardin engages with a series of oppositions: order and chaos, the man-made and the natural, restraint and
excess. These tensions are echoed throughout the works. Steyaert reflects on formative memories, including
repeated viewings of The Twelve Tasks of Asterix, particularly the task of “The Isle of Pleasure”, a place of seductive
beauty where one risks losing clarity of senses.

One of our favorite luminaires just got a new look. The Covenant Pendant by is now available in black glass.

Inspired by the sinuous anatomy of a snake’s spine, interlocking glass and brass hardware give Covenant the elegance of a classic chandelier with a contemporary edge. Founded in Melbourne by artist and designer Oliver Wilcox in 2017, Lost Profile Studio produces a restrained collection of Art Deco and industrial-inspired lighting and furniture, fabricated by hand in their Australian workshop.

Highlighting the Wood Dragon Chair by

A custom Empire wingback, meticulously upholstered in a bespoke interpretation of the Wood Dragon. Finished in a soft, light felted wool textile, created exclusively for this one-of-a-kind piece.

JG Switzer Company is an artisan textile and home goods studio devoted to the art of “painting with wool.” Each piece embraces natural variation and no two are ever exactly alike. The video offers a glimpse into the process behind creating the darker version of this fabric.

AM Collective is kicking off NYCxDESIGN with an opening reception for Surface Rising, an exhibition exploring the unbound beauty and power of materiality. Surface Rising will feature new works by Copenhagen-based architectural ceramicist Manuel Canu, marking his first solo exhibition in the United States. Manuel works with clay as both structure and surface, creating installations and sculptural ceramics that weave history and myth into a reflection on the ties between humanity, nature and the spiritual realm.

A new body of work by sculptural artist Manon Steyaert will also be on display. In Le Jardin, Manon explores color and materiality through a collection of ethereal landscapes crafted from her signature mediums of canvas, silicone and oil paint.

Please join us on Friday, May 15th from 6-8pm to enjoy drinks and experience the show at the gallery’s new home at 74 Franklin Street in Tribeca.
