Even on vacation, we must keep showing up. Got a chance to stand with the May Day rally in Santa Fe, NM yesterday. Such creative signs and some beautiful dancing to round off the protest. There are so many sacred lands in New Mexico (and the entire country) that are at stake. We are custodians of this land and Trump has already taken so many actions in his first 100 days to destroy, extract and eliminate the land that we are so privileged to protect.

Highlights from the march in NYC yesterday. Despite the rain, we were over 100k strong 💪. Keep showing up everyone - the only way we can defeat facism is by showing up and staying loud. 📣

It’s . A day that was started in the early 1900s by women protesting for women’s suffrage and labor rights. While we are no longer marching to get the right to vote, we are marching to keep the right to vote, to demand bodily autonomy, to demand that our trans sisters are not forgotten and to stand in solidarity with all people who are marginalized by Trump’s fascist regime. (i.e all of us who are not currently billionaires).

The time for action is now. Call your reps, find a local protest, volunteer for one of the many organizations fighting against this administration. Remember, of the 340M people in this country, only 77M people voted for Trump. That’s only 22.6% of the population. We are not alone and we must make our voices be heard.

sent these words along with the below blurb in her Substack, Feminist Giant, today and I felt them so deeply. By remaining silent, by remaining polite, by remaining civil, we continue to uphold the power of our oppressors. There is some very fu**ed up s**t happening right now and we cannot continue to pretend that this is normal by remaining calm and waiting to see what happens. Let these words be a rallying cry for us all. Tomorrow is international women’s day. Show up, stand up and let your voice be heard at one of the many protests happening across the nation.

While today marks the beginning of a very uncertain time for us all, I’m holding onto the hope that there are enough of us banding together to make it through whatever comes our way. Together, we can choose to look out for each other, we can choose to build and nurture communities that care about the people around us and a desire to make things better. And most importantly, we can choose radical love even in the face of hatred and division. In the powerful words of Dr. King, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

Last night, we had our first ever .studio IRL collage night event. It was beautiful to witness everyone’s creativity and expressions both of anger and rage as well as our hope for a brighter tomorrow. It is my deepest wish that together, in community, we will get through the next four years. We will take care of each other and we will be each other’s encouragement to keep going, keep fighting and keep organizing to protect what we most value in this world. ✊❤️

I needed to hear these words so much . We are in mourning, we are grieving and we need to take the time to do that. We are exhausted, we are frustrated, we are sad AND we are not going to let them hold us down and take it. Underneath our sadness, we are mad as hell, we are enraged and we are reminded that our work is far from over.

Take the time you need to process and remember that you are not alone. We are here, I am here, ready to take your hand and use our collective rage to move forward.
