Born and raised in Miami Florida, Sergio Mercado was interested in design at a very early age. Following his passion by studying Design at University of Miami, Sergio found himself inspired by design being produced in California. Pursuing his dreams, he made the journey across the country. in San Francisco was the home that provided him the freedom to pursue his passion for design, experiment wit

h materials, and discover and hone in on his style and aesthetic. Sergio had long been inspired by the interior architecture and design in Manhattan. His heart was beckoning a move to New York City. After many successful years on the West Coast he made the move East. In New York he became the Creative Director of Clodagh Design, where he engaged his own style with a strong brand. Sergio finds inspiration in materials, shapes and objects, especially details encountered on hardware or industrial parts. Albeit modern or traditional, inspiration can come in the form of any style. Sergio enjoys interpreting everything he sees through a modern lens, even if the execution is ultimately something more undefinable.

Fond memories of the Kips Bay Showhouse in New York come to mind as we participate in this year’s Kips Bay Showhouse in Palm Beach. Our room was not only a finalist for Best of Year, but we also made in the 50th Anniversary Book!

For this bathroom, the countertop is detached from the back wall allowing us to install a full length single piece of mirror and lights. The plaster on the walls, multi layers of plaster & color which is then sanded down, reveals the colors underneath while creating the pattern.
