“Capriccio” 2026, 72” x 108” | New Work.

There is something both exhilarating and a little frightening about beginning a new painting, especially one this large. A blank canvas, endless possibilities, and absolutely no certainty about where it will take me.

I never really know how a painting will unfold. Some marks are deliberate, others happen in a moment of pure instinct. I add, erase, change direction, and sometimes find myself surprised by what emerges.

I named this one “Capriccio,” an Italian musical term that speaks to imagination, spontaneity, and freedom of expression. It felt right. There is a rhythm to this painting, much like the music that accompanies me as I paint—moments of quiet followed by bursts of energy, tension, and emotion.

And then comes that elusive moment when I know it’s finished. Not because everything has been resolved, but because there is nothing more I want to say.

“Tosca” 2026, 72” x 108”.

There is a moment when a painting leaves the studio and enters a world already filled with its own history, its own objects, its own stories.

Here, “Tosca” begins another life—surrounded by things gathered and loved over time. Somehow, the painting feels both entirely new and as though it has always belonged.

Two paintings, conceived as a conversation between morning and evening. One holds the quiet promise of what is beginning. The other, the softened light of what has been. Snow dissolves into sky, figures emerge and disappear, and the landscape becomes less a place than a memory.

Commissioned for a beautifully considered home, and created as a pair for the space they will inhabit.

“Adagio in Burnt Umber” 2025, 72” x 60” by Karina Gentinetta.

The paintings that remain with us are rarely the loudest. They are the ones that continue to unfold years after they first enter a room.

“Adagio in Burnt Umber” was created with that intention—to offer something new with every change of light, every season, every return.

“Rhapsody in Red” 2025, 72” × 60”.

Not every composition seeks harmony. Some find their beauty in tension. In “Rhapsody in Red,” expressive crimson gestures move against a quiet architecture of graphite, grids, and handwritten marks. Layers are built, erased, and rediscovered, creating a visual rhythm where emotion and order exist simultaneously.

A painting designed not simply to fill a wall, but to define a space.

Available.

“La Bohème” 2026 by Karina Gentinetta.

A painting should leave space for discovery. Every layer, every gesture, every line offers another place to linger.

Named for Puccini’s beloved opera, this work is a reflection on beauty, passion, and the fleeting moments that linger in our hearts long after they have passed.

“Writing on the Wall II” 2025, 5 ft x 14 ft

Commissioned for a private collector in Malibu through Art Studio 101 and interior designer Terese Messina.

Created at a scale meant to hold space and presence, this piece was designed to bring both breadth and nuance to the room it now calls home. Works of this size ask something different of the eye and the body—they are not simply viewed, but experienced.

Grateful for the trust behind this commission and for the opportunity to create something with this kind of reach.

“Grand Overture in Green” 2026, 108” x 72”

An overture is the opening movement of something larger—a gathering of themes before they fully reveal themselves. In this work, forms emerge and dissolve through layers of moss green, pale celadon, burnt umber, and soft whites. Marks accumulate like fragments of a forgotten language, creating a composition that feels both ancient and immediate.

I wanted the painting to possess a sense of quiet monumentality: expansive yet intimate, restrained yet deeply expressive. The pencil work remains visible throughout, preserving the history of its making and allowing each gesture to become part of the final composition.

A painting is finished when nothing more needs to be said. This one feels complete.

Several years ago, I had the privilege of being commissioned by designer Mary McDonald to create Divine Innocence III for an estate in Corona del Mar, California.

The home, owned by Too Faced Cosmetics founder Jerrod Blandino, was later featured in Elle Decor and remains one of the most memorable projects in which my work has been included.

What I love most when looking back at these photographs is seeing how a painting finds its place within a larger creative vision. Mary has an extraordinary ability to create interiors that are bold, layered, and deeply personal, and I was honored that this work became part of her vision for this beautifully realized home.

One of the great pleasures of being an artist is seeing a work leave the studio and become part of a story larger than itself.

Divine Innocence III, 2023
84” x 72”

With gratitude to Mary McDonald for including my work in this extraordinary project.
