Etruscan Collection

Etruscan Collection Before the days of ancient Rome’s greatness Italy was the home of the Etruscans. The Etruscan inspired collection depicts the love of life of Etruscans.

Initially moved by intriguing descriptions of the culture of the people of Etruria, Ana Maria Rollins’ batiks paintings – a 1984 collection of impressions inspired by wall paintings, bronze mirrors, stone sarcophagi, and terra-cotta statues, found in the Etruscan tombs of Tarquinia, Italy, circa 500 B.C.- arouse in us a life message that Ana Maria intuitively terms a “sense of touch” which comes

from the Etruscan essence. History records little of their brief passage thru time. Their organic sensuality was accentuated by their spiritual belief that death was simply a continuation of life. Ana Maria’s batik impressions represent this vibrant message. “As I paint, I awaken to the spirit of life and joy.” I am moved to follow, to dance, to participate in the events of the lives of the Etruscan people. I am changed as wax upon cloth.”
