Thank you so much for all the birthday blessings and wishes I received via text, Facebook, and Instagram. I feel truly fortunate to have so many people in my life who genuinely wish me well and love me.
This has been a more challenging season, but your love and kindness helped me recognize the blessings I do have, even more clearly than before. I’ve prioritized my love for family and faith above everything else. I’ve finally accepted that I don’t have a cape on my back. While I love my work and it matters deeply, it is not the most important thing to me…and I believe wholeheartedly that God does not intend for me to be hungry or homeless. Work will come to meet all my financial, creative, and communal needs, while I focus on my family responsibilities …happily and willingly.
I want to offer special thanks to a few people who have shown up for me in extraordinary ways:
My business partner, , who has held things down while I’ve been swirling. The St. Charles congregation, Sorors, and friends, who keep my parents lifted in prayer. My brother, Dane Elliott-Lewis , who has been a true partner in circling the wagons. My ride-or-die daughter, Parris Kelly — a soldier in the making — who will jump in front of anyone or anything that might cause me stress or pain. And especially my parents & .myrns who are making these years feel like a gift rather than a burden.
To all my friends who sent birthday blessings, what I know more than ever, is that I am not alone. I am never alone. And that is what props me up.
Thank you for taking the time to celebrate this Aries girl’s birthday (you know how much that means to us ♈). When things settle and time permits, I fully intend to dance and/or raise a glass of something bubbly with each and every one of you. 🥂
