Elevated wood storage is done! Everything is nice and organized and, most importantly, up off the floor.

I used 2 1/2” x 4” wood composite blocks for the feet and scrap plywood for the base.

I’ve accumulated a lot of wood over the years, with lots of different species, unique grain patterns, and appearances. I’d like to say this is all of it… but I also have a nice stack of smaller cutoffs that I just can’t seem to part with. 😂

You never know when you’re going to need that one little piece! LOL

Couple of big projects today. In addition to my raised lumber storage in the shop, we’ll be cleaning up the fence line (or at least a section of it), and making a bon fire to get rid of some of the debris (if the wind doesn’t pickup).

One of today’s projects: elevated lumber storage!

With all the rain and flooding lately, I don’t think I ever shared any shop pictures or an update on how things fared.

We did get a little water in the shop. During the heaviest rains, some water seeped in under the walls, but thankfully all of my equipment was fine. A few boxes of “stuff” had to be moved and dried out, but nothing major.

The biggest concern was my lumber storage. Even there, only the bottom couple inches of some of the boards got wet. Once the water was gone and the shop dried out, I flipped, turned, and spread out all the boards to let them dry thoroughly.

Today’s project is building an elevated platform to keep the lumber up off the floor. Hopefully I’ll never need it, but after this round of flooding, it seems like a pretty good idea!

Overall, we still count ourselves very lucky. Things could have been a whole lot worse.

Success! We got it out. Lift and turn, lift and turn, and repeat 37 times. lol.

It started out as a good idea. Trim the grass along the fence line to make removing the debris easier. Just remember to stop before the really wet area. Oops….

The bees survived the flood. The water came within inches of the the hive bottoms but we look good. I see activity in both. The Karen hive activity was noticeably lighter than Amy’s. It’s still super muddy over there, so I’ll give it a couple days to dry out before I inspect everything.

And the rains continue in Ohio. Another 3.25 inches last night, putting us over 14” for the week. This is just Crazy. The erosion around my bridge is getting bad. But we have it better than many others around us. Some areas have been devastated in Perry County.

Counting ourselves lucky after the flooding. Lots of debris, and damaged fence. The bridge survived but will need some attention to fix the erosion. Lots of flood damage around the area that is must worse than what we got.

On a positive note, my sign survived!
