Chris Taggart ..Just finished this baby crib for some friends who are having their first child.

Made almost entirely from barnwood sourced from our WV property and a few pieces from other completed projects.

Solid headboard and side panels with slatted front panel along with an adjustable mattress frame with 4 different height settings.

A handful of ornaments and a wormy wood bowl with curly grain features.

Small tree and snowman are cedar @ 3" tall, the medium light colored tree @ 4" is pine, the large tree @ 5" is black walnut.

The rounded darker ornament with finial is of walnut and the windows box ornament may be oak.

The bowl is 6"×3.5" with curly grain. Was formerly a floor beam from an old house. Finished with mineral oil and beeswax.

Just a few of the items I've made over the last several weeks for Christmas gifts.

A variety of pens of varying species.. poplar, walnut, some unknown barn woods from our WV property.

Some poplar live edge bowls and mushroom votive candle holders (gotta love the color variations), spoon and spatula sets, and a bottle opener.

Thanks for the pic since I forgot to take any before shipping. I hope you and Steve put them to good use.

These were made from barnwood repurposed from our WV property. You can still see the saw marks in the wood and the petina from years of exposure to the elements.

I was commissioned to make 2 sets of heavy duty outdoor co****le boards for a local restaurant near our WV property.

They wanted a 2x6 pressure treated base and 3/4" cabinet grade Birch plywood tops. They are solid and heavy.

I used the new pocket hole jig I got for Christmas from Nichole Traynor to secure the tops from underneath for a nice clean look.

The tops were sealed with a few coats of oil based polyurethane sanded between coats to make a nice smooth surface.

1 set was already delivered and the 2nd will get dropped off next week.

Some of you may know that Nichole Traynor and I purchased a 35 acre property in WV last summer.

The previous owners are a wonderful couple in their mid 70s. The wife was born and raised there and when she married, she and her husband made it their home.

I've had many interactions with the husband since then and he's been super helpful with any questions we've had about the property and house, offered information on the various services in the area and regularly checks in to see how we are doing or if he can help in any way.

We wanted to do something to show our appreciation and decided on a few handmade gifts.

2 pens.. 1 made from old barnwood from a Delaware farm nearby, the 2nd is a black walnut pen made from a tree branch given to me by a good friend.

For the coasters I chose some of the barnwood from the WV property that was left to us from the purchase.

I'm hand delivering them on the next trip down.

To celebrate the half century mark for a close friend that I've known since middle school I made these for him.

A wooden Gladius (Rudis) made from an old oak barn beam dating back to the 1790's. The 3 piece handle is made from FOG wood for the guard with copper accent, hickory handle and black walnut pommel all turned on the lathe and stacked onto the hidden tang.

The stand is various pieces of wood and the plaque is engraved with the Teddy Roosevelt quote "The man in the arena".

And to finish it off a set of coasters engraved with the logo of one of his favorite bourbon distilleries.
