Two of my artist friends, Janet and Lori, and I have been asked to present an exhibition of our work at the Northwest Territory Art Guild Gallery in Vincennes, IN. We just finished setting up our show which opens for First Friday this week from 5:00-8:00pm EST and extends till the 4/23. I’m excited for this show and honored to hang my work with these talented artists. Come see our “trio show” this Friday!

It seems everyone wants to update their home now that they’ve been immersed in it through the pandemic. Furniture sales are up 75%! If you select from in-stock or showroom, you’ll benefit from a quick turnaround (at least for now). But if you’d like to place a special or custom furniture order, be prepared for a lengthy wait time. Factories worldwide are backed up with large numbers of orders, worker shortages, and supply chain delays. Furniture and materials are stuck on barges and container ships for long periods. You’ll likely wait 6 months to a year for custom and special orders. Patience, patience! It’s no fault of your furniture salesperson, so please treat them kindly!

Now that we’re deep into summer, you’d be wise to note areas in your home where the sun beats in, and take precautions. Strong afternoon and evening sunbeams from the south and west can put stress on fabrics, rugs and wood floors. With time, colors fade and sometimes even weak spots appear in upholstery, rugs and carpets, and wood darkens where hot sun repeatedly hits. Consider closing blinds and draperies in those areas during the summer. Bonus: your air conditioner (and your electric bill) will love you for it!

When picking paint colors, remember that they will always appear darker and brighter when painting is finished!
