A pair of 19th century, gilded age, candelabras. From the firm of Lobmeyr, Vienna Austria. Size 24” tall and the base is 7” diameter. Called The Maria Theresa Baroque” style. This form was available in smaller and larger sizes. We have had both over the decades. Condition without issue. These candelabras were used in two seasons of the HBO “Gilded Age” while being filmed in Newport.

A Newport, Rhode Island Sterling Silver yachting trophy dated 1896. Size 8” tall and 10” across. Made by Howard, Co. Of NYC. Engraving says: “Special Cup for 30 footers 2nd prize presented by Bayard Thayer Newport August 14,1896 won by VAQUERO III”
Bayard was a yachtsman-he purchased E.D. Morgan’s steel hull schooner “Constellation” in 1892. His other yacht “Pilgrim “ was designed by George Stewart. Price $2,500.00

# 7150. An American brass mirror; Aesthetic Movement, circa 1885. Size of mirror: 19.5” x 14” and the frame is 30” x 28”. Condition: surface not cleaned. Beveled mirror original. There is a metal back to the mirror. Note the bottom left and right corners: there is a hole which may have held a rod for coats or hats. There are slight bends to the very thick metal framing. The top center decoration is screwed to the frame. No marks. The pierced decorations include leaves, flowers, and berries. Price: $1,500.00.

# 7146. A fine gilt bronze table gallery. circa 1860-70. Size: closed is 14” tall and 13” wide. Open 14” tall and 24” wide. Probably French; consistent with the workmanship from the firm of Barbedienne. The inset porcelain plaques are finely executed. There is no factory marking on this piece. This gallery was meant to hold photographs (8) and it is of the finest quality. The piece is extensively decorated with champlevé. Condition: slight bend to the right ‘frame’ side and the top at the crest is slighly bent forward. A couple of the glass inserts may not be period. The entirety is assembeled with dozens of tiny screws. This piece weighs 16.5 lbs. Price: $4,950.00.

#7131. A French Gothic gilt bronze clock. Circa 1824-48. Charles X-Louis Phillipe. Size: 11.25” wide x 5.5” deep and 21.75” tall. Condition: not in running order: the clock mechanism needs to be cleaned. Comes with the original pendulem. The figure - a lady - is kneeling and we suspect she is praying. The figure make represent a character from a novel or opera of the era. The gold gilt surface is in very nice condition. There appear to be no losses. Mark on the back of the clock “Pond’s”. Price: $4,950.00.

“Xmas on the Hill”

Twas the Night before Xmas,
When all through The Hill
Not a creature was stirring around the Stone Mill
The Tourists were snug in the quaint B & B’s
The night was so cold afraid they would freeze
Police on duty performed all their rounds
When they got calls of complaints of unusual sounds Strange noises were coming from the Old Stone Mill
In silent dispatch cars raced up The Hill
Turning from Spring up Pelham they sped
The freshly laid snow caused a perilous dread
As the cars reached the crest at the stroke of the hour
They said “It’s St. Nick taking a rest on the top of The Tower”
Blue lights flashing and reflecting all over the park Santa sprang from his vantage up into the dark
The officer reported that what he had seen
Was Santa, a sleigh and a reindeer team
Passing over The Hill and gone out of site
With a voice calling out
Merry Xmas to all, and to all a good night
